Hello! My name is Jana (Ya’-na) McCrea and I’m a licensed Marriage, Family, and Child Therapist, EMDR practitioner, and certified hypnotherapist in Northern California. I specialize in the treatment of attachment trauma that severely impacts the quality of relationships and the ability to enjoy life. I work with all ages and any configuration of relationships including individuals, couples, families, friendships, and workplace dynamics. It's all about connection! The greater we can connect to others in safe ways, the healthier and happier we can be. My passion for helping others heal and claim their freedom from past wounds continues to energize me. It would be my pleasure and honor to guide you on your healing journey.
Working together to address your concerns and symptoms, you will be an active participant in your healing journey. You can expect to be treated with respect and sensitivity in a safe, judgment-free environment that fosters genuine self-awareness through, guidance, affirmation, and compassionate, straight-forward feedback.
I approach care holistically, utilizing an integrated approach. Together, we will identify and build on your strengths, • use mindfulness practices to strengthen your ability to navigate life’s challenges, • increase your ability to work with your body’s wisdom to release stress (somatic-experiencing), and, if appropriate for your goals, • use EMDR to reorganize memories that are hijacking your system, and • hypnosis to re-write beliefs that are preventing you from living the life your desire.
While my professional experience as a family therapist spans over twenty years, that simply covers my years as a licensed therapist. The foundation for my approach to helping individuals and families restore harmony and find ease-of-being is firmly grounded in my unusual childhood and family life as I grew up in the Pacific Island paradise of Micronesia. This idyllic childhood instilled in me a vibrant joy of life, an unyielding appreciation of diversity, and an innate understanding of how to harmonize vast cultural differences within relationships. These values, insights, and skills have proven invaluable for relating to and supporting others throughout my professional career, first as an educator, and later as a family therapist. An abiding belief that happiness is a birthright of each person and that the human spirit is resilient and growth-affirming makes it easy for me to hold the torch of hope for others.
