New to Grow
Hello! My name is Tracy Robinson. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of New York. I work with individuals of all ages, couples and families. I know looking for a therapist can be an overwhelming process. I think it's important to meet clients where their at. Everyone has a unique story, and I am here to help guide you in your journey towards healing. I want to help provide you with the tools and mindset to be the best version of yourself. I create a safe non-judgmental space to be heard, supported and validated throughout your healing journey.
In the first session I will go over confidentiality information, discuss what the currents problem(s) are that brought you to therapy, discuss your goals for therapy and work on building a rapport with you. I want to ensure we are a good fit for one another.
I use a view different therapeutic modalities. Such as Narrative therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Internal Family Systems. My first choice for treatment would be Internal Family Systems if it fits the clients needs. This Approach views the problem as a "part of us" it helps us to look at our parts from a non-judgmental approach and creates curiosity and compassion for these parts, instead of looking as ourselves as "broken".
My ideal clients are young adults that struggle with adjusting to life transitions. Men and woman that struggle with self regulation and anxiety. Men and woman that struggle with anger management. Couples in conflict and communication issues. Families in conflict and learning to navigate the different life stages. Adults that struggle with communication issues in their marriage and working through betrayal.
I identify as
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
I take an internal family systems approach to help identify clients “parts” that are contributing to dysfunctional patterns within the system. It helps clients identify how their thoughts and feelings can play certain roles and the goal is to create stability for those parts.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)
I use the CBT approach to therapy to help clients challenge their negative thoughts and reframe to have a more positive outlook on life. I help to challenge their “All or Nothing” thinking.
Narrative
I use this approach to help clients identify their problem saturated story and create a new story line with a positive outcome, while working through their trauma. We also identify their problem by observing the problem outside of oneself to look at the problem objectively from a non-blaming approach.
