New to Grow
I am a licensed mental health counselor with decades of experience working with students and families in private and public school settings. I am excited for this opportunity to work more closely with teens and their families in supporting their social, emotional, and behavioral development. I have experience working with a wide range of mental health disorders. Additionally, I am a Licensed Educational Psychologist and Nationally Certified School Psychologist. My expertise is in psychoeducational testing and diagnosis of learning disabilities.
The first session is geared towards talking about confidentiality, presenting problem(s), and goal setting. The first session is a good opportunity to see if we are a good fit for each other. I will review rating scales and ask questions to get to know my client better.
I am most familiar with brief solution focused therapy where a clear goal is set and action steps are identified.
My passion is working with teens and their families, supporting them through this critical time in development. I enjoy helping teens with learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, and peer and family relationships. I provide psychoeducation about whatever issue they are experiencing at the time. I enjoy working with neurodivergent students. Additionally, I am highly interested in sports psychology and have a passion for supporting student athletes.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I integrate various ACT concepts into therapy sessions. I often combine this approach with other therapeutic modalities. I've been using ACT within the past year.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I integrate CBT strategies into almost all of my therapy sessions. I find reframing thoughts can be very powerful.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I've used DBT for clients who struggle the most with talk therapy. I often combine DBT with psychoeducation to help my clients better understand how the mind and body are connected.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I briefly review Mindfulness strategies with clients and provided modeling when needed. I often combine ACT and Mindfulness during sessions.
Psychoeducation
I use psychoeducation in all of my treatment plans. It is essential for clients to understand why they are experiences the challenges they are facing and provide related facts so clients can make informed decisions.
