I am a compassionate and dedicated therapist with a strong background in working with children, adolescents, and families. With experience in clinical practice, school-based settings, and community work, I specialize in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, behavioral challenges, and emotional regulation difficulties. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable being themselves and sharing their experiences. My approach to therapy is collaborative, client-centered, and grounded in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I believe in meeting clients where they are and helping them build insight into how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. Together, we work to develop practical coping strategies, strengthen emotional awareness, and create meaningful, lasting change. I am especially passionate about helping children and adolescents who may struggle to express their emotions or manage difficult behaviors. I use developmentally appropriate and engaging techniques to help younger clients feel connected to the therapeutic process. I also work closely with parents and caregivers, offering guidance and tools to support their child’s growth both in and outside of sessions. My work is rooted in empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to see others thrive. I understand that seeking therapy can feel overwhelming, and I strive to make the process approachable and empowering. Ultimately, my goal is to help clients build resilience, improve relationships, and feel more confident in navigating life’s challenges.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting therapy can feel both exciting and a little overwhelming, and the first session is an important step in building a safe and supportive relationship. My goal is to create a welcoming environment where you feel heard, understood, and comfortable sharing your story. Whether you are seeking support for yourself, your child, or your family, the first session sets the foundation for your therapy journey. During this session, I take time to understand your unique needs by asking about your background, current challenges, and what has brought you to therapy. For children and adolescents, this may include exploring school, friendships, home life, and any worries or struggles they are experiencing. For adults or caregivers, I may ask about personal experiences, stressors, coping strategies, and family dynamics. I also gather important information about mental health history, medical history, and any previous therapy experiences. For children, I often include questions for parents or caregivers to better understand the child’s environment and support system. This helps us set realistic goals and ensures that therapy is tailored to each client’s needs. I explain how therapy works and the approaches I use, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI), and how these techniques can help manage challenges, build coping skills, and reach personal goals. Therapy is collaborative, and your input is essential in creating a plan that feels meaningful and achievable. It is normal to feel nervous or unsure about starting therapy, and I encourage clients to share questions or concerns, including confidentiality or what to expect in sessions. We also work together to identify goals, whether they are specific, like reducing anxiety or managing anger, or broader, like building confidence or improving relationships. Many clients leave the first session with a sense of direction, understanding of the process, and confidence that they are taking an important step toward meaningful change. My role is to guide, support, and collaborate with you as we work together to build skills, overcome challenges, and foster lasting growth and well-being.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a safe, welcoming space where clients feel truly heard and understood. I work with children, teens, and families, and I know that being comfortable and supported is the first step toward meaningful change. Clients often tell me that they feel at ease talking about difficult emotions or experiences, which allows us to work together more effectively. I use evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI), and I adapt these methods to fit each person’s unique needs. For children and teens, I make therapy interactive and engaging with age-appropriate activities, games, and tools that help them express themselves and practice new skills. For adults, I focus on helping clients understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and I guide them in building practical coping strategies that they can use every day. I am also trauma-informed, meaning I understand how past experiences affect current emotions and behaviors. I approach therapy at a pace that feels safe while still helping clients make real progress. I partner with clients and families to set goals that are realistic and meaningful, and I emphasize skills that can be applied in daily life—so therapy doesn’t just stay in the session. Clients often tell me they leave sessions feeling empowered, more confident, and better equipped to handle life’s challenges. My approach blends empathy, practical strategies, and a client-centered focus to create lasting growth and positive change. I’m committed to helping every client build resilience, improve relationships, and feel more in control of their life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a primary approach in my practice with children, adolescents, and adults. I help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and work with them to identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns. I incorporate practical skill-building, such as cognitive restructuring, coping strategies, and problem-solving, to support behavior change. With younger clients, I adapt CBT using interactive activities and real-life examples to keep it developmentally appropriate.

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore and resolve ambivalence about change. I focus on creating a nonjudgmental, supportive environment where clients feel heard and empowered to make their own decisions. In my practice, I use techniques such as open-ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening, and summarizing to elicit change talk and strengthen motivation. MI is especially helpful when working with clients who may feel resistant or unsure about making changes.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients build skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. I support clients in understanding and managing intense emotions while also validating their experiences. In my practice, I incorporate practical skills training, real-life scenarios, and structured exercises to help clients apply DBT strategies in their daily lives. This approach is especially helpful for clients who struggle with emotional dysregulation and impulsive behaviors.
