Empathetic: I seek to understand each client’s unique experiences and perspectives while responding with compassion and respect.

Seeking support is an important step, and you don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone. I look forward to working with you, meeting you where you are, and supporting you on your journey toward healing, growth, and emotional wellness

First session

During the first session, my goal is to help clients feel welcomed, comfortable, heard, and supported. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients can openly discuss their concerns, particularly those related to anxiety, depression, and everyday life challenges. By the end of the first session, clients can expect to: Feel heard and understood: Have an opportunity to share their concerns, experiences, and reasons for seeking mental health support. Build rapport and trust: Begin developing a therapeutic relationship built on empathy, respect, patience, and collaboration. Identify their needs and goals: Explore current challenges and discuss what they hope to achieve through therapy. Gain insight into their emotions: Begin identifying thoughts, feelings, and situations that may be contributing to their anxiety, depression, or stress. Explore coping strategies: Identify initial tools and techniques that may help them manage symptoms and navigate daily challenges. Understand the therapeutic process: Learn what to expect from future sessions and how we can work together toward their goals. Feel encouraged and supported: Leave with a sense of hope, reassurance, and an understanding that they do not have to navigate their challenges alone.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented, and evidence-based therapeutic approach used to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In my outpatient mental health practice, I use CBT techniques to support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, and challenges with emotional regulation. My approach is collaborative and client-centered. I work with clients to identify negative or unhelpful thought patterns, explore how these thoughts affect their emotions and behaviors, and develop healthier, more balanced ways of thinking. Together, we identify practical coping strategies that clients can apply in their everyday lives. CBT interventions may include: Identifying negative thought patterns: Helping clients recognize automatic thoughts and beliefs that contribute to anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem. Cognitive restructuring: Supporting clients in challenging unhelpful thoughts and developing more realistic, balanced perspectives. Developing coping skills: Teaching relaxation techniques, grounding exercises, and problem-solving strategies to manage distress. Behavioral activation: Encouraging clients experiencing depression to gradually engage in meaningful activities that support motivation and improve mood. Managing anxiety: Helping clients recognize triggers, challenge anxious predictions, and practice skills to respond to anxiety more effectively. Setting treatment goals: Collaborating with clients to establish realistic goals, monitor progress, and strengthen confidence in their ability to manage symptoms. Throughout treatment, I meet clients where they are, recognizing that each individual has unique needs, experiences, and strengths. I introduce CBT strategies at a pace that feels manageable and encourage clients to practice these skills between sessions when appropriate.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that helps clients develop skills to manage intense emotions, cope with stress, improve relationships, and respond to challenging situations in healthier ways. In my outpatient mental health practice, I can use DBT-informed strategies to support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, emotional distress, and difficulty regulating their emotions.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative, person-centered approach that helps clients explore their feelings about change, identify personal motivations, and build confidence in their ability to make positive changes. In outpatient mental health, I can use motivational interviewing to support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, low motivation, ambivalence about treatment, or difficulty following through with personal goals.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

How I apply a person-centered approach Empathy and active listening: I listen carefully to clients' concerns and experiences to better understand their feelings, perspectives, and needs. Unconditional positive regard: I treat clients with dignity, acceptance, and respect without judgment, regardless of their challenges or circumstances. Genuineness and authenticity: I aim to be sincere, consistent, and approachable to help establish trust and strengthen the therapeutic relationship. Client autonomy: I encourage clients to identify their own goals, express their preferences, and participate in decisions about their treatment. Strengths-based support: I help clients recognize their existing abilities, resilience, and resources while working toward positive change. Individualized care: I tailor my approach to each client's needs, experiences, values, and readiness for change.
