New to Grow
Hi, I’m Katrina, a Pennsylvania native who now calls Florida home with my husband. I’m a proud Penn State alumna (WE ARE!) with a Master’s in Social Work from Millersville University. My experience in hospital case management, behavioral health, and home hospice has shaped my compassionate, person-centered approach to supporting others through life’s difficult moments. I’m especially passionate about Health at Every Size (HAES), supporting individuals navigating disordered eating, and helping clients work through grief, anxiety, and major life transitions. I strive to create a warm, judgment-free space where you feel heard, understood, and supported.
During our first session, my focus is getting to know you and creating a space where you feel comfortable and supported. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you hope to gain from counseling. Together, we’ll begin identifying your goals and what support might be most helpful for you. My hope is that you leave feeling a little lighter and more hopeful, knowing you’ve taken an important first step and have someone in your corner as you move forward.
I think one of my greatest strengths is that I’ve personally experienced many of the struggles I work with others through. My own experiences, both the good and the difficult, have taught me the importance of feeling heard, understood, and supported without judgment. They’ve also reminded me that growth doesn’t always happen in a straight line, and that sometimes people need someone to simply sit with them in the hard moments. I try to meet each person where they are. Sometimes that means being quiet, listening, and giving them the space to process things in their own time. Other times, it means gently challenging them, asking the questions they may not want to ask themselves, or encouraging them to see things from a different perspective. I don’t believe in pushing someone before they’re ready, but I also believe that growth can come from being gently challenged. At the end of the day, my goal is to create a space where people feel safe enough to be honest, supported enough to keep going, and encouraged to work toward a life that feels better and more fulfilling to them.
My ideal client is someone who is open to healing and ready to take that first step toward feeling more like themselves again. I especially enjoy working with women who are navigating some of life’s biggest transitions and challenges, whether that’s pregnancy, postpartum, changes in marriage, grief and loss, or the everyday anxiety that can sometimes make life feel overwhelming. I know that these seasons of life can bring a mix of emotions, and sometimes it can be hard to know where to start. I want my clients to feel like they have a safe place to be honest about what they’re experiencing without feeling judged or having to have everything figured out. I enjoy working with people who are willing to be open, curious, and active in their healing process. My hope is to help clients develop the tools and confidence they need to move through life feeling more grounded, satisfied, and at peace. More than anything, I want them to know they don’t have to navigate the hard seasons alone.
My approach to therapy is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), complemented by Motivational Interviewing strategies that encourage self-reflection and empower clients to make meaningful change. CBT helps us explore the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, identify unhelpful patterns, and develop practical coping skills to support your goals. While these approaches provide a foundation for my work, I recognize that no two clients are the same. I work collaboratively with each person to create an individualized treatment approach that reflects their values, strengths, needs, and goals. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can gain insight, build effective skills, and feel empowered in your growth and healing.
