About me

I'm a licensed therapist working with adult individuals, couples, and families while they navigate challenges. I have a particular interest working with families going through transition times -- having a new baby, considering divorce/separation, coping with new health challenges, or being a caregiver for a family member with their own challenges. All of these transitions bring so many emotional and logistical challenges, and I truly enjoy being able to create a safe and comfortable space to talk and think through the stress these situations bring. My style is warm, pragmatic, and collaborative. My goal is to help you identify patterns and thoughts that are causing concern and help change them into ways of coping that better serve you. Once these patterns are identified, then we will work together to gain tools to apply in ways you can actually use in your daily life. I believe therapy should feel like a genuine conversation with someone who wants you to succeed and takes the time and effort to understand the complexity of your situation.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, I will ask a lot of questions to try to get to know you and your particular situation. I'll ask you about your background and about your goals for therapy, then we will work together to create a plan that feels most helpful to you. This is also your time to get to know me and make sure this is a good fit. You're welcome to bring your topics and questions and we will have an open conversation about how we can best work together. I hope you will leave the first session feeling understood and hopeful about the future. If we are working together in couples or family therapy, I will first meet with everyone together, then we will schedule session individually so I can gather as much information as possible about you and your dynamic. Then, we will work together to come up with goals and a plan

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my biggest strengths is really getting to know my clients and understanding how to respond to them in the moment. Sometimes it's important to challenge beliefs and behaviors, and sometimes it's important to just give a safe space to process and work through thoughts. I deeply and genuinely care about my clients and take the time to get to know them as individuals. I want all clients to feel comfortable opening up and sharing, knowing that there is no judgment but that I will also give them unbiased feedback when it's needed.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is anyone carrying a lot and ready to have a space to work through their stress. They may be navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, caregiving responsibilities, or a major life transition. From the outside, they may look capable and put together while internally feeling overwhelmed , exhausted, resentful, or disconnected. If a client is willing to put in the work, I'm confident we can make great progress. I especially enjoy working with adults who spend much of their time caring for others -- whether as a partner, parent, caregiver, or helping professional. This can be within the context of individual support or in relationship counseling, as this stress can really take a toll on relationships. I've found that working on communication and relationship dynamics can bring a huge sense of relief to clients and I enjoy being a part of that change.

My treatment methods

Couples Counseling

I frequently work with couples to improve communication, appreciation, and overall relationship satisfaction. Sometimes couples come to me after a traumatic event or sometimes after normal every day drifting apart. We work together to understand what patterns are not serving the relationship and address what each client needs to improve their satisfaction. Sometimes, clients come to the conclusion that the relationship is not salvageable, but we are still able to work on moving forward in the best possible way, especially for parents who want to minimize negative impact on children.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy can be really helpful for clients dealing with stress, anxiety, self confidence, and other issues. This type of therapy helps you recognize patterns of thinking and responding and gives you practical tools to change those patterns and feel better.

Eclectic

Eclectic therapy means I draw from many different methods of practice, and use different pieces depending on a client's individual situation. I generally try to be flexible and respond to what a client needs in the moment.
