Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) from North Carolina. I got my Master of Social Work degree from the Joint MSW program at NC A&T State University. My husband is in the military and we have moved multiple times since then. I am also a mother to 3 young children. I help adults examine their behavior patterns to become "unstuck" and live their life to the fullest.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will get to know each other and briefly cover some administrative pieces (like limits of confidentiality.) Then we will spend the majority of the time discussing your presenting problem, exploring your history and developing a mutually agreed-upon treatment plan to help you meet your stated goals in therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have worked with varied populations experiencing many different types of mental health concerns (including severe mental illness.) This has taught me when to be gentle and when to be direct with my clients. I can adapt my style to meet your personal needs while still holding you accountable when necessary.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with men and women struggling with life transitions and anxiety or who feel stuck from past negative experiences or trauma.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT has been a cornerstone of my work with clients and I have been using it regularly since I graduated as a social worker in 2013. I weave the elements of CBT in with other methods to strengthen your skills and ability to question your thought processes and behaviors.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I was trained in DBT in 2014 and have found so many opportunities to use it. I enjoy choosing particular pieces of the method (like distress tolerance, boundary-setting, emotion regulation) when appropriate and utilizing them to meet the specific needs of my clients. Of course, I am comfortable using the entire DBT process when clinically indicated, but find that tailoring the interventions to each client makes DBT more impactful.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I have only recently come to explore IFS and love the idea of trusting in my clients to know what they need. I also appreciate the view that each part or behavior within a client has benign intent, rather than assuming certain parts are harmful. When used in conjunction with CBT or DBT, I have found this method to be extremely effective in the right client. Not only does it work well, but it empowers the client to own their therapy process and discover the way to heal themselves under a therapist's guidance.
