Hi! My name is Dr. Omyda Hernandez, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. I specialize in helping clients navigate issues around ethnic/racial identity, biculturalism, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I bring a social and racial justice lens to therapy, exploring the impact of immigration, ethnic/racial identity, trauma, or cultural issues that impact personal and professional life. Life transitions, relationship challenges, experiences of loss, issues around acculturation, & family difficulties can lead to a sense of isolation and unrest. Whether these experiences happen in childhood or adulthood, their impact can be difficult to shake. They leave an influence on how we view ourselves, others, and our approach to new situations. We'll look at the influence these factors have on how you view yourself, others, and your approach to current situations. In addition to the above, I also specialize in the evaluation and treatment of ADHD for children, adolescents, and adults. Whether you are an adult with ADHD, a parent seeking evaluation for a child, or a family seeking support, I can provide ADHD assessment, diagnosis, coaching, and skills training.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, and there are a lot of unknowns. Research shows that beyond a provider's level of training or education, the best predictor of therapeutic success is a positive chemistry between provider and client! During our first session, we will get a feel for eachother. I will take the time to get to know your concerns, at your pace. I'll ask questions about what brings you to therapy, and what you are hoping to get out of the experience. I will also answer any questions that you have.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

You are unique, and your therapy should be too. I use a combination of psychodynamic, multicultural, DBT, CBT, and Solution Focused modalities to help clients reduce stress and improve their ability to achieve personal and professional goals. I believe that there is no "one size fits all" for therapy, and will collaborate with you to identify the therapy style that is most effective for you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I enjoy working with clients who are bright, motivated, and professionally driven. Prior to becoming a psychologist, I worked as a professional success coach. When appropriate, I draw on my coaching skills and experience to help clients reach their goals. I also bring a strong background in understanding the unique challenges of those who are twice exceptional (2e), which refers to those who are intellectually gifted, with a secondary type of neurodivergence (ADHD, dyslexia, autism spectrum disorder, or other learning disabilities).

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Highly intelligent, professionally driven, ADHD, issues are biculturalism, multiculturalism, ethnic or racial identity, people who are high achieving professionally but struggle in interpersonal relationships.
