(she/her)
Hi I am licensed by the Arizona State Board of Behavioral Health. I provide tele-health counseling across the state for adults. I am passionate about helping others overcome past trauma, anxiety, and low self worth. I truly love what I do so it does not feel as much like work. There is no cookie cutter modality. I tend to meet people where they are at and use whatever tools best suit their unique needs. I have been described as down to earth, non judgmental, empathetic, strengths based, and competent. I earned my Masters Degree in the Advanced Standing program ASU in 2012 and have been independently licensed since 2019. I opened my private practice in 2020. I tend to use a growth mindset-meaning small baby steps and progress not perfection. We become the little things we do a lot rather than the big things we do sometimes. All you have to do is show up as you are. I do not primarily treat substance use, eating disorders, mania, or active suicidal ideations. Such needs require specialized treatment with a therapist whose expertise falls within the appropriate scope.
I am pretty lax and easy to talk to. During the first session, I will be happy to answer any questions and I will explain the process and a little bit bit more about my style. We will determine if it’s a good match to meet your needs and if so come up with a plan. Keep in mind that I use a growth mindset, which means small baby steps are what we are looking for. We become the small things we do every day and not the big things we do sometimes. All you have to do is show up as you are.
I have always had a strong ability to empathize and connect with others who are suffering for any reason. I have the patience and the skills to meet you where you are at and walk with you step by step as you reach your goals. Since I love what I do, it doesn’t feel so much like work.
I work with adults age 18 and over in Arizona who need support in navigating healthy boundaries, life transitions, enhancing work life balance, reframing negative core beliefs and thought patterns, trauma processing, coping skills for anxiety and emotional regulation. I tend to work well with those struggling with generalized anxiety as well as those overcoming narcissistic abuse and other traumas.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
The automatic thoughts we have are based on our life experiences and the lens we have without realizing it. Every time something happens we get a thought which brings a feeling and a behavioral response. It happens in the blink of an eye and can lead to distorted thinking patterns and can make us feel stuck. Once we become aware of our automatic negative thoughts and beliefs we can use CBT tools to challenge and reframe them. This is just one method I lean into but I will use whatever tools I have to help meet each individuals unique needs.

Amanda seems to be exactly what I am looking for in a therapist right now. She was able to listen to what I was saying that I needed, and discussed certain terms and strategies that I had not heard of before, that sounds very promising.
