Whatever you are struggling with, you don't have to face it alone. Taking the courageous step towards therapy can feel like a big decision, and I'm here to make that journey as supportive and empowering as possible for you. My name Josh Freeman and I'm so happy that you have taken the first step to seeking help and support! I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in Virginia and have been practicing therapy for many years. I see clients Texas clients via secure video and can see clients in Virginia in-person or by secure video. I hold a professional license in both Virginia and Texas. I believe in the power of collaboration and empathy in therapy. Together, we'll work to understand your unique challenges and discover meaningful ways to navigate them. Whether you're seeking support for anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or simply looking to gain deeper self-awareness, I'm dedicated to helping you uncover insights and develop practical tools for positive change.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, share a little bit about the therapy process, build rapport and then we will dive into the challenges you are facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I bring a warm and empathetic approach to our sessions, ensuring you feel heard and supported. My goal is to provide a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and emotions. Together, we'll develop practical strategies to navigate life's challenges with clarity and resilience.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a highly effective approach that focuses on the connection between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It empowers individuals by helping them identify, challenge and correct negative thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress. By using CBT to change these patterns, you really can rewire how your mind works and foster healthier thinking and coping skills.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is a powerful approach that combines acceptance and change strategies to help client's overcome a variety of challenges. DBT is particularly effective for individuals struggling with intense emotions, impulsivity, and difficulty in relationships. I use DBT to help clients develop mindfulness skills, regulate their emotions, tolerate distress, and improve interpersonal effectiveness. Together, we work on creating a balance between acceptance of current circumstances and making meaningful changes towards a fulfilling life.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a transformative therapy that helps individuals process distressing memories and experiences in the safety of our physical or virtual office. While EMDR is renowned for its effectiveness in treating trauma, it's also incredibly versatile. As an EMDRIA trained EMDR therapist, I utilize EMDR in my practice to address a wide range of challenges beyond trauma, such as anxiety, phobias, depression, grief, and more. By facilitating bilateral stimulation, EMDR's bilateral stimulation helps to activate the brain's natural healing process and reprocess negative beliefs and emotions, leading to profound healing and personal growth.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a practical and goal-oriented approach that focuses on solutions rather than dwelling on problems. SFBT is beneficial for a variety of concerns beyond trauma. I work with clients to identify their strengths and resources, and to set specific, achievable goals. By emphasizing solutions and positive changes, SFBT helps you develop new perspectives and find effective strategies to navigate challenges in their lives.
