About me

Hi, I’m DeWayne Pinkney, Multi state licensed therapist, a mental health professional dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges and build healthier, more fulfilling lives. In my practice, I provide a supportive, respectful, and judgment-free environment where clients can work on emotional wellness, relationships, communication, and personal growth. My goal is to meet each person where they are and help them develop practical skills they can use in everyday life. I look forward to working with you and being part of your journey toward positive change.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a comfortable, trusting therapeutic relationship. We’ll talk about what brings you to counseling, your current concerns, your goals, and what you hope to gain from therapy. I’ll ask questions about your background, relationships, experiences, strengths, and areas where you may be experiencing challenges. We’ll also discuss confidentiality, expectations for counseling, and how we can work together to develop a treatment approach that fits your needs. Most importantly, you do not have to have everything figured out before your first appointment. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment where you can be heard, understood, and respected. By the end of our first session, we’ll have a better understanding of what you would like to accomplish and begin identifying practical steps toward positive change. Come as you are—your first step toward feeling better starts here.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

bring a warm, genuine, and practical approach to counseling. I believe effective therapy begins with building trust and creating an environment where clients feel heard, respected, and free from judgment. I take the time to understand each person’s unique experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. My approach stands out because I combine empathy with practical, solution-focused strategies. I draw from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Reality Therapy, person-centered therapy, and emotionally focused interventions to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships. I also believe counseling should lead to meaningful change outside of the therapy session. Together, we identify realistic goals, develop coping skills, improve communication, strengthen decision-making, and build confidence. My goal is not simply to help clients get through difficult moments, but to help them develop the insight, skills, and personal strengths needed to move forward with greater purpose and confidence.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who is ready to make positive changes in their life, even if they are unsure where to begin. They may be experiencing anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, emotional regulation difficulties, low self-esteem, behavioral concerns, or life transitions. I work well with clients who are open to honest conversations, learning new coping strategies, understanding their thoughts and behaviors, and developing practical goals. My goal is to meet each client where they are and help them build confidence, insight, and meaningful change.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I work collaboratively with clients to identify unhelpful thinking patterns, explore how those thoughts influence emotions and actions, and develop healthier, more realistic perspectives. I also incorporate practical coping strategies, behavioral techniques, problem-solving, and goal setting to help clients apply what they learn in counseling to everyday situations. My goal is to help clients develop skills that promote greater emotional awareness, confidence, and lasting positive change.
