Hey there! I'm a bilingual counselor (LPC) originally from Puerto Rico and now residing in Augusta, GA. I received my Masters in Clinical Psychology from Augusta University. I like to believe that I bring an unique perspective to my practice. With a deep understanding of cultural nuances and experiences, I strive to create a warm and inclusive environment where clients feel heard and understood. Drawing from a range of therapeutic approaches, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), I collaborate with individuals to navigate life's challenges and find new creative ways to promote holistic healing. Whether you're struggling with stress, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, or depression, I'm here to support you on your journey towards balance.
During our first session, I'll introduce myself and then get curious about your story and current situation. We will then develop a plan for how we will work together to address your concerns!
My flexibility enables me to adapt therapeutic techniques to meet the unique needs of each individual, fostering a personalized and effective approach to healing. I approach counseling with an open mind and heart, embracing diversity and honoring the lived experiences of each client with respect and compassion. Additionally, my creativity allows me to think outside the box and offer innovative interventions that inspire insight and promote positive change.
I love working with adults who are trying to better understand themselves. They know something is off in their life but don't have all the answers. They know they want to do better but need help building new skills to reach their goals. They genuinely would like to help heal their relationship with others and themselves.
In Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), we'll work together to help you navigate life's challenges in a more meaningful and fulfilling way. We'll start by developing mindfulness skills, which will allow you to observe your thoughts and feelings without judgment. From there, we'll identify what truly matters to you—your core values—and set goals aligned with those values. Throughout our sessions, we'll practice accepting difficult thoughts and emotions, learning techniques to detach from unhelpful thoughts. Then, we'll focus on taking committed action towards your values, helping you build resilience and psychological flexibility. Ultimately, ACT is about empowering you to lead a rich and purposeful life, even in the face of adversity.
In Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, we'll explore the different parts of yourself—like different aspects of your personality—that make up who you are. Together, we'll dive into understanding these parts, each with its own feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. Through visualization exercises and conversations, we'll uncover the roles these parts play in your life and how they interact with each other. The goal isn't to eliminate any parts, but rather to foster harmony and balance among them. As we progress, you'll develop a deeper understanding of yourself and cultivate self-compassion along the way. I'll be here to guide you through this journey of discovery and integration, helping you build a stronger and more authentic relationship with yourself.
In Rogerian therapy, also known as person-centered therapy, our focus is on creating a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences openly. I'll be here to listen to you attentively, without imposing any judgments or interpretations. Together, we'll work towards understanding your experiences from your perspective, helping you gain insight and clarity about yourself. Rather than offering advice or guidance, my role is to facilitate your self-exploration and growth by providing empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard. You're the expert on your own life, and I'm here to support you in your journey towards self-discovery and personal growth.
Somatic therapy focuses on the mind-body connection, recognizing that our physical sensations, emotions, and experiences are interconnected. In our sessions, we'll explore how your body holds onto past traumas, stressors, and emotions. Through techniques like mindfulness, breathwork, and body awareness exercises, we'll help you tune into your bodily sensations and unlock any unresolved tension or trauma stored there. By engaging with the body's wisdom, we can facilitate healing and integration on a deep level, leading to greater emotional well-being and resilience. My role is to support you in this process of reconnecting with yourself and promoting holistic healing.
