(he/him)
Saludos! I'm a bilingual counselor (LPC) from Puerto Rico and now residing in the state of Georgia. I received my Masters in Clinical Psychology from Augusta University. I have over 5 years of experience working with adults of all backgrounds. I like to believe that I bring a unique perspective to my practice by looking at the whole person through a mind-body-spirit perspective. With a deep understanding of cultural nuances and experiences, I strive to create a warm and inclusive environment where clients feel heard and understood. Drawing from a range of therapeutic approaches, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), humanistic therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS), I collaborate with individuals to navigate life's challenges and find new creative ways to promote healing. Whether you're struggling with stress, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, or depression, I'm here to support you on your journey towards balance.
During our first session, I'll introduce myself and then get curious about your story and current situation. We will then develop a plan for how we will work together to address your concerns. I believe that counseling is all about collaboration. I will share with you my perspective on what could be helpful moving forward and hear your perspective to make sure that we personalized your treatment plan to enhance your strengths and improve areas of growth.
My flexibility enables me to adapt therapeutic techniques to meet the unique needs of each individual, fostering a personalized and effective approach to healing. I approach counseling with an open mind and heart, embracing diversity and honoring the lived experiences of each client with respect and compassion. Additionally, my creativity allows me to think outside the box and offer innovative interventions that inspire insight and promote positive change.
I love working with adults who are trying to better understand themselves. They know something is wrong, but they feel stuck. They know they want to do better but need help building new skills to reach their goals. They genuinely would like to help heal their relationship with others and themselves. As a Latino counselor, I love working with people who are also navigating life in the United States as Latino. As a younger counselor, and I also like to work with young adults who would find it helpful to do counseling with someone who stays up to date with cultural trends and brings a humorous but grounded tone to sessions.
I identify as
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
In Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), we'll work together to help you navigate life's challenges in a more meaningful and fulfilling way. We'll start by developing mindfulness skills, which will allow you to observe your thoughts and feelings without judgment. From there, we'll identify what truly matters to you—your core values—and set goals aligned with those values. Throughout our sessions, we'll practice accepting difficult thoughts and emotions, learning techniques to detach from unhelpful thoughts. Then, we'll focus on taking committed action towards your values, helping you build resilience and psychological flexibility. Ultimately, ACT is about empowering you to lead a rich and purposeful life, even in the face of adversity.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured form of talk therapy that helps people notice how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors affect each other. In CBT, we will work to identify unhelpful patterns, practice new ways of thinking, and try practical coping strategies in everyday situations. Sessions are usually goal-focused and may include simple exercises or reflections between appointments to build skills over time. Many people find CBT helpful for managing stress, anxiety, depression, and other emotional challenges because it focuses on tools they can continue using on their own.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
In Rogerian therapy, also known as person-centered therapy, our focus is on creating a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences openly. I'll be here to listen to you attentively, without imposing any judgments or interpretations. Together, we'll work towards understanding your experiences from your perspective, helping you gain insight and clarity about yourself. Rather than offering advice or guidance, my role is to facilitate your self-exploration and growth by providing empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard. You're the expert on your own life, and I'm here to support you in your journey towards self-discovery and personal growth.
Mind-body approach
The mind-body connection is powerful. Through a mind-body approach we focus on the connection between emotional well-being and physical experiences such as tension, breathing, sleep, and stress reactions. Therapy may include techniques like relaxation exercises, mindfulness, breathing practices, movement, or learning to notice how emotions show up in the body. Sessions often help people build awareness of stress patterns and develop healthier ways to calm and regulate themselves. Many find that the mind-body approach is a great way to support treatment for anxiety, trauma, chronic stress, pain, and sleep issues.
