Allie Olivo
I am a recently Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 10 years of experience in mental health and behavioral health. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with individuals and families across a variety of settings, including schools, residential care, and wraparound services. My experience includes supporting people navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, trauma, grief and schizoaffective disorder. For over 5 years, I worked in school settings, helping children and youth learn and understand themselves and build skills to increase resilience and self-worth. I supported students and their families navigate challenges, improve communication, resolve conflict, and build stronger, healthier relationships at home. I have experience working with clients ages three and up and currently support adults with acute mental health needs.
In our sessions, you can expect honesty, compassion, and a little humor along the way.
As a granddaughter and former caregiver, I am especially interested in expanding my work with aging adults and am pursuing certification as an Aging and Mental Health Specialist. I believe every stage of life brings unique experiences, challenges, and opportunities for growth, and I am passionate about helping older adults feel heard, supported, and empowered as they navigate life’s transitions. I have personal and professional experience with ADHD and grief and I am dedicated to supporting clients and their families as they navigate these challenging topics.
First session
Your first session is all about getting to know you, your story, and what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about what led you to take this step, what you’re hoping to get out of therapy, and what you need from me as your therapist to feel comfortable, heard, and supported. We’ll explore your support system, coping skills, significant life experiences, and the strengths you’ve already developed along the way. You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly where to begin - we’ll work through that together. Before we wrap up, we’ll discuss next steps and scheduling if we feel we’re a good fit. Finding the right therapist matters, and it’s okay if we decide we aren’t the right match for each other. My goal is for you to feel comfortable and confident in your therapeutic journey. And because growth doesn’t happen only in the therapy room, I’ll leave you with a small, manageable challenge to try during the week. Think of it as your first step toward putting what we discuss into practice in your everyday life\!
Strengths
In our sessions, you can expect honesty, compassion, and a little humor along the way. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, valued, and supported as you move through your journey. I want to understand your story, celebrate your strengths, and help you navigate life’s challenges without judgment. Together, we’ll work toward your goals, and I'll gently challenge you each week to step outside your comfort zone, build confidence, and make meaningful progress. Therapy is a journey, and I believe it can be both meaningful and challenging, with room for laughter along the way.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are individuals navigating life’s challenges at any stage, from middle school through the later years of life. Maybe you’re feeling anxious about everyday responsibilities, struggling to get out of bed, finding it hard to finish tasks, or trying to balance school, work, relationships, and everything else life seems to ask of you. Perhaps you’re feeling burned out, struggling with memory or focus, or feeling lonely, disconnected, or misunderstood—even when surrounded by others. You may be navigating a major life transition, adjusting to changes that feel out of your control, or carrying the heartbreak of losing someone you can’t imagine life without. Whatever brings you to therapy, you don’t have to have all the answers or even know exactly where to start. I welcome clients who are ready to feel understood, explore what’s getting in the way, and find ways to move forward at their own pace. Together, we’ll make space for the hard stuff, recognize your strengths, and work toward a life that feels more manageable, meaningful, and connected.
Treatment methods
Integrative
I take a flexible, personalized approach to therapy because there’s no one-size-fits-all solution (if only it were that easy!). Together, we’ll identify what you want to achieve, what might be getting in the way, and how we can use your existing strengths, skills, resources, and support systems to help you get there. I may draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to explore how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence one another, using weekly challenges to help you practice new patterns outside of sessions. We may also incorporate mindfulness and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to help you navigate emotions and stressful situations. With Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, we’ll look at what’s already working, identify your strengths, and focus on small, realistic steps toward meaningful change. Sometimes, a small shift can make a bigger difference than we expect! Because relationships play such a big role in our lives, we may explore attachment styles and how past experiences influence your connections with others today. Our approach will evolve with you, your needs, and your goals - because therapy should fit you, not the other way around!
