Anna Noble
I may be the right therapist for you if you have done therapy before and made good progress, but then you got stuck. You kept talking about the same issues, but nothing seemed to change. You have a hunch that there are some experiences in your past that need to be addressed on a deeper level for you to truly change. When more talking doesn’t seem like a helpful approach you have come to the right place. Let’s go beyond words. Let’s hone in on the intuitive, subcortical, non-verbal part of the brain that stores traumatic memories. To facilitate change and healing on the somatic level, let's try brainspotting, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Please be aware that this work can sometimes cause some distress or destabilization. You are likely not quite ready for this approach if you are actively using substances, utilize self-injury to manage intense emotions, have suicidal thoughts, or were hospitalized for mental health issues within the last year.
Strengths
There is this one behavior that you can’t let go off, the phrase that triggers you every time, the situation that always leads to a disproportionate response no matter how hard you try to stay calm. It seems like your brain gets caught in a pattern that logic and will power can't reach. My approach to therapy is centered around identifying and overcoming the beliefs and protective mechanisms that keep us stuck. With a specialization in neurodivergence, I am here to help you navigate the complexities of human motivation while supporting you in trusting your intuition, enjoying the small pleasures of life, doing what is good for your soul, and fostering connections
Ideal clients
You have done therapy before; you think deeply about life, feelings, meaning, and purpose; you may be a therapist yourself. You identify as neurodivergent or wonder if you may be on the autism spectrum. You are looking for someone to join and support you as you push past your current comfort zone and discover something new about yourself and your life. You are not in crisis, but want to face your current discomfort head on.
Treatment methods
Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a powerful treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neuroexperiential, deep-seated sources of trauma. Brainspotting allows us to involve the parts of the brain in the healing process that cognitive thought can’t access. It is helpful when “using words” to address an issue has reached its limit.
EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to briefly focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. It often helps people who have intrusive memories around specific events, such as a car accident, medical trauma, or an abusive relationship.
