About me

My job as a therapist is to help you navigate through stumbling blocks that are preventing you from having the best quality of life. I am here to listen with empathy, provide coping skills and techniques, support, and resources to help you achieve your goals of a better state of mind or a healthier way of life. I use a number of varying modalities depending on the situation, issue, disorder, or dysfunction. There is never a one-sided approach, and I often integrate different therapies to help you achieve a healthier outcome.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first meeting will consist of information gathering. We will get a better sense of who each other is, if we are a good fit, and for you to provide pertinent information that is necessary for what you would like to achieve. I utilize a number of varying modalities (theories/therapies) depending on the situation, issue, disorder, or dysfunction. There is never a one-sided approach, and I often integrate different therapies to help you achieve a healthier outcome.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am an active listener and provide you with the space to freely express your thoughts and feelings. Sometimes silence is necessary for you to feel safe, and I do my best to provide you with a safe space to share openly and confidently. I have a wealth of personal experiences that help to have a greater understanding of what my clients are experiencing or have experienced. My life has provided me the space I feel is necessary to not only embrace one's life experiences but to also have a greater sense of empathy.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I believe that every individual is the "ideal client." But, to answer the question of what an ideal client is, it's one who is ready to initiate change. Whether is a large challenging change or small short-term goal-oriented changes. Change is hard whether it's positive or negative and whether you're in the contemplation stages of change or ready to embrace the challenges that may be faced, let's navigate the path together.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

This is psychotherapy that focuses on increasing psychological flexibility. Rather than trying to change or suppress difficult thoughts and emotions, ACT teaches individuals to change their relationship to their suffering so they can live a meaningful, values-based life.

Attachment-based

Attachment-based therapy focuses on how early childhood relationships with primary caregivers shape an individual's emotional and relational patterns as an adult. Rooted in John Bowlby's attachment theory, this process-oriented talk therapy aims to help clients recognize, process, and rebuild their baseline attachment styles.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, time-limited therapy focused on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The core approach is that psychological distress is maintained by unhelpful patterns of thinking and learned behavior..

Gender-affirming therapy

Affirmation: Validating the individual's self-identified gender, preferred name, and pronouns in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Exploring Expressions: Helping clients safely navigate their gender expression, including clothing, hairstyles, and social communication styles. Processing Internalized Stigma: Addressing internalized transphobia, shame, and confusion resulting from societal marginalization. Social Support & Systems Navigation Social Transitioning: Guiding clients through the social steps of coming out to family, partners, friends, and workplaces. Family & Relationship Counseling: Facilitating communication with family members to build supportive domestic systems and reduce rejection [1].Intersectional Stress Management: Teaching specific coping skills to manage external microaggressions, discrimination, and minority stress. Medical & Legal Transition Support: Informed Decision-Making: Helping clients weigh the psychological risks and benefits of gender-affirming medical interventions (e.g., hormone replacement therapy, surgeries). Referrals & Care Coordination: Writing clinical letters of support when required by medical standards, such as the WPATH Standards of Care, and connecting clients with trans-competent medical providers. Legal Documentation Guidance: Assisting clients with the emotional toll and practical steps of legally changing names and gender markers on official identification.
