I became a social worker because I wanted to help people. I became a therapist because I wanted to empower people. Sometimes, we need support to move through life and changes and I enjoy being that person to help others navigate the challenges and celebrate the victories. Through my friendly demeanor and strengths based perspective, I help my clients identify what areas of their lives they'd like to see growth and assist them in achieving those goals.
I find goodness of fit important to self-growth and accomplishing goals. In our first session we will go through a general assessment (the who, what, where, when and why of what brings you to therapy) and have a general dialogue to see if the fit is good and develop some goals. If it feels good to you, we'll discuss scheduling. If not, we can talk about how to get you linked with someone who can help you in your journey. The important thing is to know you're not alone.
I approach therapy how I approach life, with kindness and understanding. I meet my clients where they're at in life and through observation and questions, help them to determine their own path forward, serving as a helping hand along that journey.
I love working with young women, especially those trying to navigate change. My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They understand that change takes time and effort and are willing to do the work.
I use a CBT approach, which requires you to observe/identify your automatic thought process and challenges you to learn to reframe and change that process. That's not always an easy skill to learn, but we'll work through it together. I might give you some worksheets or exercises, but it's an honor system and you get out of therapy what you put into it.
