Amber Jackson
Hello there! My name is Amber Jackson and I am a licensed Clinical Counselor that has several years of experience working with adolescents and adults who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and a whole myriad of things that life may be throwing at you right now. I offer a supportive, collaborative approach to therapy and operate from a strengths-based, person-centered lens. I also practice Christian counseling so if that is something important to you or you are wanting to explore that more in-depth, I'd be happy to help.
First session
At our first session, we will start by getting to know each other. We will talk about what you hope to work on and accomplish and establish some therapeutic goals that we can work towards. We will also talk about the frequency of sessions that you would like as well as collect some background information (family history, relationship history, etc.). Lastly, we will talk about any relevant homework or skills that we could start implementing or thinking about to work on in-between sessions.
Strengths
I view my role as a guide on the side, that helps you navigate your own life. I view each of my clients as unique so I try to bring unique and varying therapeutic approaches to each client, based on their needs. If a client needs more direction or structure to a session, I can provide that for them, or if someone needs to use the space for processing, I'm happy to provide that as well.
Ideal clients
I like to work with high school/college students as well as those that are going through transitions in life including, new marriage, new parents, etc. I also have experience with grief work, navigating loss or endings (loss of job, newly divorced, loss of a relationship/loved one). I also enjoy working with those that are within helping professions (teachers, nurses, counselors, etc.) and helping them to learn how to help others by helping themselves and finding a self-care routine and boundaries that work well for them. I welcome anyone that is having trouble navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, transitions, and life stressors.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use several methods in therapy including cognitive behavioral therapy which basically is a series of techniques that allows for restructuring the way you think which in turn will affect your actions and behaviors.
