I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. By using Cognitive Processing Therapy and Exposure Therapy, I treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I have knowledge working with individuals that have experienced traumas related to the military, sexual trauma, and stressful events that happen in childhood. I am here to assist you in learning about yourself, your coping skills, and how to build on your strengths. As a therapist, I believe, my responsibility is to help you think about situations from a different perspective so you can overcome obstacles keeping you from living your life the way you want to live and stop feeling stuck.
During the first session, I gather information and background about you. We discuss treatment plan goals, and I typically give "homework" to do between sessions. If we are a good match, then we schedule another session. If not, then I don't take it personally and we get you scheduled with another provider.
I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Acceptance and Committment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Treatment methods are individualized and determined during treatment planning.
I have experience working with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder through the National Guard and foster care system. I have many years of treating depression and anxiety. Teaching coping skills and building social supports are also important.
