Hello! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California with a background in Theatre Arts. I received my master's degree from California State University Dominquez Hills. I have been practicing for 7 years. I help adults struggling with career stress, life transitions, anxiety, as well as individuals who have experienced historical trauma and grief. Through the use of the therapeutic process, I assist with the processing of complex emotions.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
I have a relaxed communication style when engaging with clients, and I would describe it as " conversational" in nature. During the client's first session, I will introduce them to my brand of therapeutic interaction (welcoming/non-judgmental/encouraging environment), briefly go through confidentiality/limitations, and invite them to share details about themselves and their unique struggles.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I have experience working with adolescents, adults, and children in a variety of settings.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
Person-centered modality dictates that the therapist encourages the client to take a more authoritative lead in sessions such that, in the process, they discover their own solutions. This treatment method allows clients to discover their inherent potential thus, encouraging positive personal growth and change.
Existential
Existential therapy allows clients to explore the connection between raw experience/abstract thought, between the emotion and feeling with regards of a client's emotional experience. As the therapist I have an appreciation of the client's individual experience as well as perception(s). During sessions the introduction of self-awarenesses, freedom, possibilities as well as the introduction of the concept of choice may give the client the courage to create positive change.
