Hello, I'm Andrea and I'm a licensed mental health counselor in Florida. My passions in life include Christ, friends, fellowship, food, and finding solace in everyday living. My favorite thing about being a counselor is knowing that I am helping clients to evolve and discover their true self, whom they were called to be. My favorite theory is Maslow's hierarchy of needs which explains how humans grow and evolve to reach purpose-driven performance. That is my purpose as a counselor-- to motivate and assist individuals in walking in their purpose. Sometimes there are obstacles and roadblocks that can hinder us all and it's necessary to ask for help. I am nonjudgmental and nonbiased to anyone who is seeking holistic care. In my free time, I enjoy baking, reading, going to the beach, traveling, spending time with family, and watching movies. Along with my LMHC, I also have earned a graduate certificate in biblical studies from Liberty University so I could also provide Christ-centered counseling.

First session

From the first session clients will get an understanding of their presenting problem, how I could help, and how we will work together throughout the following sessions. Clients will get goals and objectives to consider and began working on as well.

Strengths

My approach stands out because I am a creative thinker with innovative ways of presenting information and thought patterns that helps clients to understand and gives them a new perspective. I am person-centered and I am not the authoritarian over clients. You know your life better than me. My goal is not to dictate or give advice, rather than to listen and help produce suggestions. I am authentic, genuine, and warm. I enjoy listening and being the person to help guide clients through any difficult emotions or thoughts.

Ideal clients

My ideal clients include clients who take the first step to get help. I am able to work with clients who have a small inclination of wanting to change. I love working with clients who are honest, although sometimes that takes time. I can help someone who comes to me with full authenticity just as I am. I enjoy working with clients who are adolescents-young adults. My ideal clients want to heal or want help with any presenting issue and are not looking for me to give advice but help process their life.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help you identify unhelpful thought patterns and negative behaviors. We work together to challenge these distortions, test realistic beliefs, and practice healthier coping skills. You build practical habits through active sessions and daily homework to change how you feel and act.

Faith-based therapy

Faith in therapy acts as a powerful anchor for healing and resilience. By integrating your spiritual values, you can reframe hardships, find deeper meaning in pain, and foster self-compassion. Trusting in a higher purpose provides hope during difficult moments, transforming your therapeutic journey into a holistic alignment of mind, body, and soul.

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing as a collaborative, person-centered style to resolve ambivalence. I guide clients using the OARS framework—open questions, affirmations, reflective listening, and summaries—to evoke their own reasons for change instead of telling them what to do.
