My name is Anita Cabil, and I am an LCSW with over 20 years of experience in outpatient therapy and hospital social work. I hold an MSW from USC and a BA in Psychology from UCLA. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and specialize in treating depression, anxiety disorders, women’s health, stress management, and trauma-informed care. While I use CBT, I believe that each individual is unique, so I also incorporate an eclectic blend of therapeutic modalities to best meet each person's needs. I believe that with the right coping tools, problem-solving strategies, and the support of an experienced therapist, anyone can overcome life's challenges.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I create a warm, welcoming space where clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings. My approach begins with meeting you where you are at and supporting your growth through a positive, collaborative relationship. During our first session, we will focus on gathering a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment to help me get to know you better. I’ll also ask about your personal care goals and what you're seeking in a therapist. I respect and value your time and want to ensure that we are a good fit and that each session is as productive as possible.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have extensive experience working with clients facing depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, family/relationship challenges, chronic illness, grief, and cultural/ethnic concerns. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse age groups and backgrounds, each on their own journey to find happiness and meaning. Coming from a culturally diverse and multicultural background myself, I deeply understand the importance of culture and identity in the therapeutic process. While I am skilled in various treatment modalities, I also embrace a nontraditional approach to therapy. Clients have shared that they feel enlightened, inspired, energized, and motivated, with the ability to maintain their goals and achieve lasting change.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I am skillful at CBT and have found this therapy method to be most effective with short-term clients. CBT is rooted in evidence-based outcomes, best clinical practices and personal care preferences.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Culture plays a crucial role in therapy because it influences individuals' values, beliefs, behaviors, and ways of understanding and experiencing the world. Utilizing culturally appropriate methods serve to improve our therapeutic alliance and makes the treatment process more relevant and effective to you, the client. I encourage my clients to delve into their ancestral history and personal family stories, in order to increase understanding of cultural strengths but also identifying intergenerational trauma.

Humanistic

Humanistic therapy helps clients to understand their situation and feelings more clearly. I find clients are able to achieve their goals and develop an acceptance of who they are, and a positive view sense of self.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

MBCT helps clients to develop strategies of coping with stress, depression and anxiety symptoms. I find this type of treatment helps clients to develop more body awareness and assist with better emotional self-regulation.

Eclectic

I tailor to all clients, by utilizing an eclectic blend of treatment modalities, based on their unique, individual differences.
