I want to help you find you remember who you are. By helping you navigate the situations in your life that are preventing you from living a life of joy, by assisting you in resolving trauma while finding compassion for yourself and by teaching you some new skills, you can move forward in your life on your terms and return to your true nature. Finding balance in your mind, body, energy and spirit will help you to not only care for yourself, but to also care for others with ease, joy and creativity. As a seasoned, experienced therapist, I offer a unique experience blending a practical, interactive, intuitive, holistic, solution-focused therapy experience. My treatment approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients to help resolve current problems and long-standing patterns. Incorporating a blend of conventional and alternatives approaches and drawing upon a variety of styles and techniques will create the solutions that that will be most helpful for each client. Practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Developmental Psychology, Neuroscience, Brainspotting, Yoga philosophy, Meditation and Mindfulness practice, Ayurvedic medicine, spirituality, energy work and general wellness strategies combine to offer an integrative, holistic approach. With sensitivity, patience, compassion, humor and perspective, we will work cooperatively together to help build on your strengths, resolve trauma and return to balance and joy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, my intention is for you to feel connected and heard. After introductions, I'll ask how I can help you. At that time, you may share your story, the reasons for seeking counseling, and tell me what's on your mind. I'll be listening with a compassionate yet analytical mindset so that at the end of our first meeting, I can offer you some directions for how you can start helping yourself and feeling better right away. Helping you to rediscover who you are through empowering education and healing can happen quickly!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As an experienced therapist of over 33 years, my biggest strengths are my ability to assess issues quickly, utilize my knowledge of a wide range of ancient and modern theoretical perspectives and subjects, access intuition and creativity and offer practical strategies for relief, shifts in perspective and growth. I love helping people learn about themselves and find joy again. The passion I have for personal development is at the root of all that I do.

My treatment methods

Brainspotting

As a Nationally Certified Brainspotting Practitioner, I am trained and experienced in this special method of helping people process trauma. Getting to the root cause of the symptoms of trauma, anxiety, fear and depression can help resolve the issue on a somatic level. This means that the trauma can be integrated and released through the body. In practice, I am a co-creator with clients. We work together to learn the technique, to identify activating events. We then utilize the brainspotting techniques to move toward a reduction of uncomfortable symptoms, improved insights and awareness and resolution of core issues. Learning about mindfulness based exercises such as breathing, somatic movements and meditation strategies further support the Brainspotting work.

Gottman method

As an experienced Level 2 Gottman method practitioner, I help couples find ways to connect, solve challenges and resolve longterm patterns of behavior based on the science based research of John Gottman. Receiving training from Julie and John Gottman in person years ago changed the way I work with couples for the better.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

As an experienced therapist, I integrate mindfulness based practices into my work with clients. I go beyond traditional talk therapy by including education and coaching related to expertise in nutrition, lifestyle and wellness strategies so that clients may learn how to manage their own unique balance of mind, body and spirit. Utilizing ancient traditions of yoga, meditation, Ayurveda, qigong, energy work and more, combined with modern day science and best counseling practices offers a transpersonal, integrative, holistic experience that is unique.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a standard foundation for my counseling services. Examining the mind's thoughts allows us to restructure thinking that may be faulty, anxious or trauma induced to a more rational model. Specific behavioral and thinking strategies offered by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can be integrated well with other modalities for wellness, self care and recovery of mindfulness based principles.
