Hello, I'm Pamela Shipp, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the owner of Insightful Minds, LLC. I provide compassionate, evidence-based care for adolescents and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma-related concerns, and other mental health challenges. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and personalized to each individual's needs. I offer psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapy-informed care in a welcoming, judgment-free environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to achieve their mental health goals.

First session

During your first session, we'll take time to get to know each other and discuss what brings you to treatment. I'll ask questions about your current concerns, symptoms, medical and mental health history, lifestyle, and goals to gain a complete understanding of your needs. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and share what you hope to achieve through treatment. Together, we'll develop a personalized plan that may include medication management, therapeutic support, coping strategies, or additional recommendations tailored to your situation. My goal is to create a comfortable, supportive environment where you feel heard, respected, and actively involved in your care.

Strengths

What sets my approach apart is my commitment to providing personalized, compassionate care that treats the whole person—not just the symptoms. I take the time to listen, understand each client's unique experiences, and develop treatment plans that align with their individual goals, values, and needs. I combine clinical expertise with a warm, supportive approach that helps clients feel comfortable and understood. I believe the best outcomes occur when clients are active partners in their care, and I strive to create a collaborative environment where they feel empowered to ask questions, make informed decisions, and take meaningful steps toward improved mental health and overall well-being.

Ideal clients

I am best positioned to work with adolescents and adults who are seeking support for depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma, stress, and life transitions. Many of my clients are feeling overwhelmed, struggling to manage daily responsibilities, experiencing difficulty with focus and motivation, or looking for relief from persistent emotional distress. I work well with individuals who are ready to better understand their symptoms, develop healthier coping strategies, and take an active role in their treatment. Whether someone is seeking medication management, therapy, or a combination of both, I strive to create a supportive and collaborative environment where they feel heard and respected. I also have experience working with members of the LGBTQ+ community, individuals navigating relationship or family challenges, and those seeking support during periods of personal growth and change. My goal is to help clients improve their quality of life, build resilience, and achieve greater emotional well-being.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and actions affect one another. Together, we identify patterns that may be contributing to stress, anxiety, depression, or other challenges and work on developing healthier ways to respond. My approach is practical, supportive, and focused on helping clients build skills they can use in everyday life. I help clients learn ways to manage stress, improve coping skills, increase confidence, and make positive changes that support their overall well-being. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I often combine therapy with medication management when appropriate, creating a personalized treatment plan that supports both symptom relief and long-term emotional health.

Supportive

I use supportive therapy to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can openly discuss their thoughts, feelings, and life experiences. My goal is to help clients feel heard, understood, and supported while working through challenges such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, grief, life transitions, and other emotional difficulties. I help clients identify their strengths, build healthy coping skills, improve problem-solving abilities, and increase confidence in managing everyday stressors. Supportive therapy focuses on encouragement, emotional support, and helping clients develop practical strategies to improve their overall well-being. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I often incorporate supportive therapy into medication management visits, allowing clients to receive both emotional support and treatment recommendations tailored to their individual needs.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative approach that helps clients explore their goals, identify barriers to change, and strengthen their motivation to make positive changes in their lives. Rather than telling clients what they should do, I work alongside them to understand their concerns, values, and priorities. I use this approach to help clients navigate challenges such as managing mental health symptoms, improving self-care, reducing substance use, increasing treatment adherence, and making lifestyle changes that support their overall well-being. Together, we explore what is important to the client, build confidence in their ability to make changes, and develop realistic, achievable goals. My approach is supportive, respectful, and focused on meeting clients where they are in their journey. I believe lasting change is most successful when clients feel empowered to make decisions that align with their own values and goals.
