Eric Epstein
I am a skilled, dedicated, mature, and compassionate male Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who focuses and specializes in working with men and professionals of all ages and backgrounds, on issues such as relationships, anxiety, anxiety, stress, family, substance use, and career challenges. I am also a licensed attorney in the States of Florida and New York, as well as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator. I don't believe that therapy is a life-long process that requires years of ongoing weekly sessions. I don't adhere to the traditional pattern of delving into the minutiae of childhood and every prior relationship. Rather, I focus on analyzing past and current patterns of behavior in your various relationships to recognize which patterns are working and which are not. We work together to break those patterns to create new and more effective, and satisfying patterns of behaviors for you.
First session
My most fundamental therapy philosophy is that the "problem" is the problem - not that you are the problem. I view my clients as being in a relationship with their issue or problem - and we work together to understand that relationship and to create interventions to make that relationship healthier and more productive in your life. I am a straight shooter and will challenge you - respectfully. My sessions are interactive and thought-provoking.
Strengths
I specialize in working with men's issues, and with couples where there is high conflict in the relationship (however, absolutely no domestic violence). As a man in his early 50s, I understand the unique challenges men face in today's society. I work with men to help them navigate work-life balance, relationships, and family issues.
