I am an independent Licensed Professional Counselor from the great state of Texas with a passion for working with individuals dealing with various life challenges. I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Master of Counseling degree. I specialize in everyday life problems, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, addiction, trauma and adjustment issues. I also have experience working with people from all walks of life, and assisting individual clients, couples and families experiencing relationship issues. I believe no individual is the same, so my goal is to empower you with specific tools needed to improve your situation. I currently provide individual services to clients experiencing suicidal thoughts, mental health, substance abuse, and PTSD utilizing a client centered, CBT, and solution focused approach to assist clients in therapy. I am also able to counsel from a faith-based approach based on the need and at the request of my clients.
The first few sessions are typically focused on rapport building and getting to know each other. You can expect to feel heard and seen, treated with dignity and respect in a judgment free environment. You can feel empowered and better equipped to tackle life's challenges through the application of tools provided during and after sessions.
Assessment tools like (GAD7 and PHQ-9) will be utilized to measure where you are at the onset of therapy and other times during the therapy process. Responses will be discussed during the session, providing additional insights into other possible areas of focus. Homework will also be assigned as relevant to treatment goals and reviewed during the session.
I particularly enjoy working with individuals struggling with existential issues and helping them safely navigate through their stuck points in life. One of my biggest strengths is my ability to listen with empathy and utilization of reflective skills in listening to my clients. I am also trauma certified and multiculturally trained to work with all cultures.
