Onyebuchi Ogbo
I am Buchi, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over a decade of experience in healthcare. I specialize in comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing mental health care for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. My practice is built on a holistic, person-centered approach that emphasizes collaboration, compassion, and evidence-based treatment. I work closely with each patient to develop individualized care plans that address their unique needs, promote emotional well-being, and support long-term mental health and overall quality of life in a welcoming and supportive environment.
First session
An initial visit with Buchi will include a comprehensive assessment utilizing the bio-psychosocial model to understand the whole person. In a relaxed setting that strives to protect the health information of the individual, Buchi focuses extensively on how to best aid the individual on their journey of wellness. He works with the individual closely to flexibly determine the frequency of follow-up appointments based on the need of the individual.
Strengths
I combine clinical expertise with genuine compassion and believe the strongest therapeutic relationships are built on trust, honesty, and collaboration. Patients often tell me they appreciate feeling truly listened to rather than rushed or judged. I take time to understand not only your symptoms but also your strengths, relationships, culture, values, and personal goals. My approach is practical, evidence-based, and solution-focused. I will support you with empathy while also challenging unhelpful patterns when appropriate, helping you build healthier ways of thinking and coping. I believe education is empowering, so I explain diagnoses, medications, and treatment options in clear language that allows you to make informed decisions with confidence. My goal is not simply to reduce symptoms, but to help you develop the tools, resilience, and confidence needed to thrive long after our sessions together.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are children, adolescents, and adults seeking compassionate, evidence-based care for conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma-related disorders, and other mental health concerns. They are individuals who are motivated to improve their emotional well-being, open to collaborating on their treatment plan, and committed to achieving lasting positive change. I value working with clients from diverse backgrounds and strive to create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where they feel heard, empowered, and actively involved in their mental health journey.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles into my practice to help clients identify and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior that may be contributing to emotional distress. During appointments, I work collaboratively with clients to develop practical coping strategies, improve problem-solving skills, and build healthier ways of responding to life's challenges. When combined with medication management, CBT techniques can help reduce symptoms, improve daily functioning, and support long-term emotional well-being. My goal is to empower clients with tools they can use both during and outside of treatment to achieve meaningful, lasting progress.
