New to Grow
My name is Jen, and I'm a licensed clinical therapist. I work with children, teens, and adults who are facing an array of social/emotional difficulties. I know life can feel overwhelming at times, and you don't have to figure it all out on your own. I offer a warm, nonjudgmental space where we will talk through strengths and challenges while discussing practical ways to help you feel better. We'll work collaboratively to explore various skills that will empower you in your day-to-day life. My approach to therapy is warm, supportive, and down-to-earth. I strive to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and comfortable being yourself. I use tools from CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care, while always tailoring our work to what feels most helpful for you.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it's completely normal to feel nervous. You don't need to have everything figured out. I will guide you through the process. In our first session together, I will gather information related to your strengths and challenges. From there, we will come up with a treatment plan in order to help guide our work together. We will build rapport in the next couple of sessions. Getting to know each other is an important step in forming a healing relationship. Once you are feeling comfortable, we will implement therapeutic interventions such as exploration of how thoughts and feelings guide your behavior. We will explore various coping strategies, and make meaning to experiences you have encountered. We will move at a pace that is comfortable for you, so that we can begin to outline a path for you to move forward. My work with each client is highly individualized based on ever-changing needs, as we are all humans with unique qualities.
My strengths as a therapist include creating a warm, supportive, and collaborative environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful change. I am skilled at helping individuals gain insight into their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while also focusing on practical, real-world skill building that supports day-to-day functioning. I place a strong emphasis on teaching coping strategies, boundary setting, and emotional regulation, helping clients feel more confident navigating relationships and life stressors. I am particularly comfortable working with adolescents and young adults, while also drawing from experience working with individuals across the lifespan, which allows me to adapt my approach to meet a wide range of developmental needs. My work is grounded in evidence-based practices, and I tailor interventions to each person’s unique needs, strengths, and goals. I strive to balance compassion with directness, helping clients feel supported while also gently challenging them to grow and move toward the changes they want in their lives.
My ideal clients are individuals who are willing to engage in self-exploration, build insight into their struggles, and actively work toward meaningful change. I work well with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, and life transitions who are open to learning and practicing new coping skills. I also place a strong emphasis on helping clients develop healthy boundaries, improve communication, and build more balanced relationships with themselves and others. I have experience working with clients across the lifespan, from young children to older adults, with a primary focus on teenagers and young adults. Together, we create a supportive and collaborative space focused on emotional growth, self-understanding, resilience, and practical skill building for everyday challenges.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns and develop healthier, more balanced ways of responding to challenges. I incorporate practical coping skills, behavioral strategies, and between-session exercises to support lasting change. My approach is collaborative, goal-oriented, and tailored to each client’s individual needs and strengths.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients build skills for managing emotions, improving relationships, and coping with distress more effectively. My approach emphasizes mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness in a supportive and collaborative environment. I help clients balance acceptance and change while developing practical tools they can apply in daily life. DBT interventions are tailored to each client’s goals, strengths, and individual experiences.
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore ambivalence, strengthen motivation, and identify personal goals for change. My approach is collaborative, nonjudgmental, and centered on each client’s values, strengths, and readiness for change. Through reflective listening and guided conversation, I support clients in building confidence and developing their own reasons for making meaningful changes. MI is integrated flexibly to encourage autonomy, self-awareness, and lasting growth.
