Hi! My name is Yolmar Rodriguez-Chacon and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). I believe that during challenging times, we need someone who is on our side, who understands our situation and can help during dark times. I will serve as a guide, and walk by your side throughout your individual process, while you develop trustworthy insight and learn to understand yourself.
When working with clients, I strive to cultivate a warm, supportive, direct and non-judgmental environment where people feel safe to openly share their thoughts and feelings. I strive to foster a sense of collaboration and trust through active listening, respect, empathetic understanding, and encouraging tone of voice. I can teach you skills & strategies to help change unhealthy thinking / behavioral patterns and to manage stress and emotions effectively. Learning how to regulate emotional reactivity, as well as breaking destructive cycles to reduce unwanted behaviors. Let’s work together to help you heal by helping you develop skills, and feel supported / heard throughout your time in therapy.
I am committed to helping individuals affected by: trauma, people pleasing, anxiety, perfectionism, and/or codependency to heal those invisible scars left behind by emotional, physical, and psychological abuse. I can help you find yourself again and let go of toxic shame, anxiety, and false narratives that trauma has brought into your life. Let’s work together to help you heal.
I have worked with women and men who have experienced trauma, to include, childhood trauma, sexual trauma, emotional pain/trauma from medical diagnoses (stigma), PTSD, anxiety, grief/loss, identity issues, struggles with boundaries and depression. It is rewarding to see how survivors of abuse become whole again choosing to be who they want to be.
I use DBT to teach people to accept their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. DBT focuses more on the emotional and social aspects of living. Clients can use DBT techniques to change their thoughts and behaviors. Not only are personal skills taught in DBT, but skills for interpersonal relationships are also emphasized.
I use CBT to help my clients become aware of your thoughts, emotions and beliefs about these problems. CBT helps to Identify negative or inaccurate thinking, reshape negative and/or inaccurate thinking. Additionally, to identify troubling situations or conditions in your life.
