I have a MA in Forensic Psychology and am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor based in Illinois. I have been in the field for the last 11 years and I have worked with veterans, law enforcement, teens on probation, families, people with severe mental illness, and adults with intellectual/developmental disability. I like to use my clinical skills to become a support/resource for clients and empower them to feel capable of making positive change.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy. I will share my own professional experience as appropriate and we will begin the process of getting to know each other!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have been told by former and current clients that they appreciate my patience, warmth, compassion, and ability to empathize.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I prefer to work with individuals who are ready and motivated to make changes in their everyday lives. I prefer to work with clients on a short-term basis, long enough to identify their stressors and then identify possible solutions and work towards making those solutions reality.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I pull from a variety of modalities during my time with clients. I like to utilize methods of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to break down the connections between emotions, thoughts, and behavior. I also utilize Motivational Interviewing and unconditional positive regard to build therapeutic rapport with my clientele. I view myself as a tool for the client to bounce ideas off of and practice self-reflection.

Forensic Psychology

I have a MA in Forensic Psychology and my graduate school program included a focus on the intersectionality between the legal and mental health systems.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I prefer to use clinical time efficiently and effectively to identify current concerns and develop skill sets to help clients help themselves.
