New to Grow
Hello! My name is Leanna, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a passion for helping others be their most authentic selves. I received my master's degree from the University of the Pacific and have since been fortunate to work with diverse populations within the criminal justice and psychiatric hospital systems. I am experienced in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused brief therapy. I utilize a collaborative approach to help empower each individual to utilize the strengths they already have while incorporating new tools to achieve their goals.
During our first session, we will get to know one another and begin to discuss your needs at your pace. Everyone has unique needs, assets, and motivations, so during our initial session, a strong focus will be placed on how structured you would like our sessions to be and identifying which modality(s) will work best for your goals. We will work to create a space of comfort, so you feel safe on the journey to meeting your goals.
I believe therapy works best when we share a mutual understanding of respect, honesty, and trust. You are the expert on your story, and I am grateful to support you through this chapter. I provide an empathetic approach while supporting you in reaching your goals. I will also help you identify areas that may no longer serve you in a non-judgmental way. I look forward to working with you and helping you learn to love your unique strengths and abilities.
I am passionate about working with those feeling overwhelmed with low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, trauma, and/or substance use. I welcome all identities and am passionate about providing nonjudgmental, inclusive, and empowering care. I bring a client-centered approach that acknowledges your strengths and abilities. Through empathetic understanding, I empower individuals who have been silenced, put down, and discriminated against to find their voice and regain control.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Often, we struggle with negative thought patterns that we don't even notice. Acknowledging that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are all interlinked is a central component of CBT. Learning to change our thought patterns can positively impact our emotions and behaviors!
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT is an extension of CBT that focuses on radical acceptance and mindfulness practices. DBT takes CBT one step further and believes that we do not always need to jump straight to changing those emotions-- we also need to learn to accept that they occur and find ways to cope when they come up.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational interviewing can be especially helpful for those who prefer a less structured environment. This modality focuses on empathy, listening, and optimism.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I have a passion for mindfulness practices such as meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, and breathing exercises. I use these practices as needed in session and would love to provide psychoeducation on how to use them outside of session.
Trauma Informed Care
Everyone brings their own experiences to sessions. Many of us have struggled with abuse, assault, and loss. I use trauma-informed care by allowing my clients to discuss their trauma at their own pace, asking permission, and being patient.
