I am a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). My services include psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and supportive therapy. My approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and a deep understanding of the complexities of mental health, and I understand the importance of addressing the mind-body connection in promoting overall well-being. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree from The University of Texas, Health Science Center at San Antonio, and Master of Science in Nursing at Maryville University, St Louis, MO. I am also a Veteran of the United States Air Force. I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space where clients feel valued, heard, and supported. I take pride in providing culturally sensitive care, while educating and advocating for my clients. My goal is to support individuals and families on their journey towards a better mental wellbeing.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

My first session is mainly introduction, rapport building, whole person assessment and evaluation. We also develop a unique treatment plan based on the assessment findings and patient's preferences are very important aspect of treatment.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths are assessment, compassion and understanding. I love to partner with my clients to solve problems from the root cause.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I provide medication management and supportive therapy for adults going through life transitions or dealing with occupational stress, academic stress, family, and relationship stressors. My treatment is voluntary and meant for individuals who can maintain safety and participate in their own care, and I also welcome those who are new to psychiatric treatment and need guidance to navigate the best treatment available.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based technique that focuses on changing maladaptive thoughts and behavior patterns that contribute to common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. CBT involves thought challenges, focus on the present, learning new skills, goal setting, problem solving, and self-monitoring. I work with my clients to identify negative behavior or thought patterns and walk them through challenging their thoughts/behavior replacing them with more realistic and helpful alternatives to improve their mood.

Psychoeducation

Using supportive therapy, I offer emotional support with empathy to my clients to help guide them through difficult times. This usually involves active listening, encouragement, verbalizing feelings and validating one’s feelings, all in a nonjudgmental safe space. I also guide my clients and advise them on specific problem solving and building coping skills, the result includes improved self-esteem, confidence and overall stress reduction.
