Hi!! I am Delisea, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. We are in a world where experiencing life transitions is something we “just deal with”. In reality, how are we dealing with it? We experience so much in life: getting married or divorced, starting a new job or going to college, having a baby, or life is just happening. All of these things, and many more, affect how we show up in our lives. Our personal stressors can cause challenges in our marriages, our families, at work, with our friends, or it can lead to feeling overwhelmed, mentally drained/exhausted, or feeling down. I am here to meet you wherever you are and provide therapeutic support. My approach is to meet you where you are and support you on your own journey. This may look like learning skills to manage depression, anxiety, or stressors from your personal and professional life. Maybe you just need a place to process your thoughts or discover your own superhero pose (yes, just like from that one show, with that awesome creator, cast and crew). My clinical journey has allowed me to work with a diverse population of children as young as 3 to senior adults, in schools, inpatient and outpatient hospitals. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, groups, and families. I work as your guide, as you navigate your journey. Creating a safe space for you to feel heard, validated, connected, but also challenge the way you have learned to navigate through the world. I want my clients to be your true authentic self and explore ways for your personal growth while increasing your self-acceptance. My knowledge is important, but therapy is a collective effort, where we work together to identify your needs, explore your emotions, process your experiences, and find healthy ways to continue your journey. That is why my approach is not an “one size fits all”. In a world where it's difficult to have power over many decisions, I believe therapy is a place where you should reclaim that power by unapologetically being yourself.
Many times clients may come to sessions feeling overwhelmed, stressed or feeling down making therapy sessions hard. My hope it that clients leave session with a little more insight and hope for change, that they can take away from our sessions.
I like to start with talk therapy with my clients to get an idea of "what, why and how" they have come to therapy. From here treatment methods and tools are determined based on the needs of the client. I use methods such as CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Strengths Approach, Mindfulness, Psycho-education about brain and stress response to just name a few.
Areas that I would consider my biggest strength would be working with clients trying to manage, depression and anxiety/stress. I like to provided clients with psycho-education about how our bodies naturally has a stress response, forming learned behaviors, based on our life experiences. The more informed your are, it becomes a great way to learn new skills to change our mindsets and behaviors.
I would like to focus on individuals (children and adults ages 12 and up) who may be experiencing: anxiety, depression, life changes/transitions stress, work stress, trauma, and/or challenges with family dynamics.
