MY passion for helping others has shaped my work as a mental health professional and guided the creation of Looking Within Mental Health Counseling PLLC. My philosophy centers on the belief that with understanding and insight, individuals can reconnect with inner peace and rediscover joy. Carla is dedicated to walking alongside clients as they explore the root causes of emotional and mental health challenges, offering steady support throughout the healing and self-discovery process.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting therapy can feel uncertain, especially if it’s your first time. The first session is designed to help you feel comfortable, understand what you need support with, and decide whether therapy feels like a good fit. Therefore, the first counseling session which is known as the intake or initial assessment session is designed to help both the therapist and the client to begin identifying the client’s needs and goals. For many clients, especially youth or young adults, it is structured but supportive and paced carefully. The goal is to get to know you, explaining how therapy works, talking about your goals and deciding next steps.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

In my approach to therapy, I have a strong understanding of the unique pressures that come with young adulthood, including life transitions, identity development, relationships, and self-esteem. I work with clients who may appear high-functioning but are navigating internal stress, uncertainty, or emotional overwhelm. I create a space where clients feel comfortable being open without fear of judgment. Many clients find it easier to talk about things they may not feel able to share elsewhere, which allows for more meaningful and productive work in therapy. I help clients identify patterns in their thoughts, behaviors, and relationships that may be keeping them stuck. This awareness becomes a foundation for making intentional and lasting changes. Sessions are therefore guided and purposeful, while still allowing room for what feels most important in the moment. This balance helps clients feel both supported and focused, especially during periods of uncertainty or transition.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Within Mental Health Counseling provides online psychotherapy services to young adults and adults seeking support for concerns such as mental health support, career uncertainty, building independence, independence from family, trauma, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, anger, and life transitions.Feeling stuck between who you were and who you’re becoming? Many young adults struggle with self-doubt, relationships, pressure, and major life changes and do so silently. I help people ages 25–40 build clarity, confidence, and emotional stability using CBT and mindfulness-based approaches.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a treatment model which allows me to help a client understand the correlation between the unhelpful cognitions and their experience of mental health symptoms. Will identify and challenging negative thought patterns to change emotions and behaviors. Listening to your story helps me to process the faulty thoughts and responses which contribute to your experience of mental health symptoms by challenging those faulty thoughts and responses.

Motivational Interviewing

In my practice, Motivational Interviewing is a treatment model used to assist a client with being confident with and listening to their own motivations for change. it is a client-centered, directive approach used to help individuals resolve ambivalence about change and strengthen their internal motivation.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness is another treatment model used in the practice. This model is an approach that integrates mindfulness practices with clinical interventions to help clients develop awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and bodily reactions without judgment or reactivity. Will assists clients with staying present rather than ruminating on the past or worrying about their future
