Hi there, I'm Dr. Jackson! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with clinical privileges. I am an independent clinical provider with several years of behavioral health and evidence-based practice experience. It is an honor to meet you! Congratulations on taking the first step to solve any obstacles or challenges that you may be facing today. Making a decision to receive therapy can be a gateway to living a life of self-fulfillment. I am a conferred Doctor of Health Sciences/Global Health graduate who graduated with a 4.0. Also, I am nationally certified as a board-certified telemental health provider, certified geriatric care professional, master addiction counselor, and a United States Department of Transportation Substance Abuse Professional. I have advanced degrees in Social Work and Health Services Administration. I have been an independent provider in the healthcare government sector for a vast number of years. My professional background is in mental health, medical, and business processes. I have worked with various populations encompassing adults and children from all walks of life.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During the first two sessions, clients can expect to continue to establish rapport with me and talk about their concerns. Also, clients can expect to receive compassion and empathy from me to ensure that the therapeutic process is progressing to positive outcomes. As a clinical provider, I actively listen, teach, empower, encourage, and motivate clients throughout the therapeutic process. My counseling style consists of asking thought-provoking questions and assisting clients with implementing goals in their lives to address presenting concerns.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am a telemental health provider who is board certified to provide telehealth services. I have earned certifications in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Geriatrics Care, Substance Abuse Professional, Master Addiction Counselor and English as a Second Language. I approach goal setting with my clients by asking them clients to talk about their current and most pressing concerns. Then, the treatment plan is formulated. Clients are involved from day one in the treatment planning process, and the client’s goals and/or objectives are continued to be monitored. Clients are encouraged to communicate their goals in measurable terms so that we can track, monitor, and modify goals and objectives as needed.

Evidence-based based therapeutic-approaches that I utilized based on the presenting concern include cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, cognitive therapy, mindfulness therapy, and strengths-based perspective. My counseling style consists of examining the events that have occurred in your life and implementing a proactive plan to decrease the possibility of the problems reoccurring. Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is an evidence-based treatment practice that is used to teach clients how to have an awareness of humans’ behavior, identify emotions, regulate emotions, enjoy the present moment and to accept reality of current life events. In this treatment approach, clients additionally learn how master problem solving, interpersonal effectiveness skills, distress tolerance skills and mindfulness skills. The theoretical model is overall known to help clients maintain balance emotions and relationships so that individuals may live a life of self-actualization.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

The CBT treatment approach emphasize to clients how to be aware of their current situation, automatic thoughts, emotions, mood and behavior. Clients focus on how to identify cognitive distortions such as catastrophizing, emotional reasoning, mind reading, mental filters, overgeneralization and labeling. Learning how to identify and manage these cognitive distortions are essential so that clients are able to transform their thinking, behavior and respond differently intrusive or irrational thoughts.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is an outstanding treatment approach that can be used with various client systems. With motivational interviewing clients complete a self-reflection, examine the pros and cons of their behaviors, thoughts and actions. Client uses techniques in this approach such as reflective listening, the change plan, preparatory change talk, self-discovery and values sorting. Overall, the primary purpose of this approach is for clients to build their self-confidence and to identify and change ambivalent behaviors so that they can live well-balance life.

Christian Counseling

Christian counseling is a holistic treatment approach that aims to build a person faith with life challenges through biblical reading with scriptures. Individuals are encouraged to seek God for counsel, strength, faith and hope. Through the strength-based perspective individuals build their faith and leave all of their problems at the alter for their higher power to solve them
