About me

Hello Thank you for sharing information about yourself. I'm so happy that you reached out for help. I am William "Bill" Mcleod. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor, and National Certified Addiction Counselor with a master’s degree in clinical psychology. For more than two decades, I’ve had the privilege of supporting adults across the lifespan, including young adults and older adults as they navigate life’s emotional, relational, and spiritual challenges. My therapeutic approach is trauma informed and tailored to each person’s unique needs. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, and I can integrate faith based psychotherapy when a client requests it. I consider myself a practical and collaborative therapist, and I work to create a safe, compassionate environment where people can explore their stories with honesty, courage, and hope. I draw on insight, humor, and empathy to help clients work through feelings of isolation, shame, anxiety, and uncertainty while building resilience, purpose, and emotional clarity. I have extensive experience supporting individuals facing depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, anger, and substance use disorders, as well as those navigating major life transitions. I also have a deep commitment to men and women's mental health, workplace stress, blended family dynamics, attachment concerns, and recovery from relational wounds or sexual assault. In my work with older adults, I help individuals and families navigate aging, cognitive changes, memory concerns, and shifting roles with dignity and compassion. At the heart of my practice is a simple belief: every person has strengths, gifts, and the capacity for healing. My role is to walk alongside you, honor your story, and support your movement toward greater wholeness and a more meaningful, satisfying life.,

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first intake session is simply a chance for us to get to know each other and understand what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask about your history, current concerns, and goals, and you can share only what feels comfortable. We’ll talk about how therapy works through, what our sessions may look like moving forward, and any questions you have about the process or confidentiality. The goal of this first meeting is to create a sense of safety, clarity, and direction so you leave feeling heard and supported.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My life experiences have taught me that every person is unique, with a story only they can tell, yet we all share enough common ground for empathy to create real change. I use compassion, honest reflection, and gentle challenge to help clients move toward healthier patterns and manage the behavioral health struggles they’re facing. At the core of my work is a simple belief: every person has strengths, gifts, and the capacity to heal. My role is to walk alongside you, honor your story, and support your growth so you’re not just surviving life, but truly thriving. Faith based counseling is avalable upon request,

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with adults of all ages women, men, and older adults who are navigating meaningful life transitions, emotional challenges, or a desire for deeper personal growth. My ideal client is someone who wants a therapist who is warm, grounded, and compassionate, but also willing to offer honest reflection and gentle challenge when it supports change. Whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, grief, identity concerns, faith-related questions, caregiver stress, or the complexities of aging, I help you identify your strengths, clarify your goals, and build healthier patterns that move you toward a more stable, meaningful, and satisfying life. I believe every person has the capacity to heal and thrive, and my role is to walk alongside you with empathy, respect, and practical guidance as you move forward.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) because it helps clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. CBT is a practical, goal‑focused approach that teaches you how to identify unhelpful thinking patterns and replace them with healthier, more realistic ones. This allows you to make meaningful changes in how you feel and how you respond to challenges in daily life. In short, CBT helps you gain tools to think more clearly, cope more effectively, and move toward the life you want.

Christian Counseling

I offer Christian‑based counseling for clients who request it, using Scripture, faith‑focused reflection, and spiritual principles to support healing and personal growth. This approach is always optional and guided by your comfort level, helping you connect your beliefs with practical tools for managing life’s challenges.

Grief Therapy

I offer grief‑focused therapy to help clients navigate the emotional pain that comes with loss—whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a relationship, independence, health, or a major life change. Grief therapy provides a safe space to express what you’re feeling, understand the different stages and forms of grief, and learn healthy ways to cope and adjust. My approach helps you honor your loss while also rebuilding meaning, strength, and stability as you move forward at your own pace.

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore their goals, strengthen their motivation, and overcome the internal conflicts that often make change feel difficult. MI is a collaborative, non‑judgmental approach that helps you understand what you want for your life and why those changes matter. Instead of telling you what to do, MI guides you to discover your own reasons for change and build confidence in your ability to move forward.

Trauma Informed Care

I use trauma‑focused therapy to help clients understand how past painful or overwhelming experiences are affecting their current emotions, relationships, and daily functioning. This approach provides a safe, steady space to process what happened, reduce triggers, and build healthier coping skills. Trauma‑focused work helps you regain a sense of control, strengthen resilience, and move toward healing at a pace that feels right for you.
