My passion is supporting clients in moving beyond merely surviving, towards freedom and joy, in order to truly LIVE. My practice centers around working with people of color, marginalized communities, and allies to find healing and growth from depression, trauma, racism-based stress, anxiety, and burnout. I bring an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and social justice lens to my work. I have spent my career helping young adults feel safe, empowered, seen, and understood. My approach is client-centered, strength-based, supportive, direct, and with a touch of humor. My therapeutic methods often involve using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Art Therapy, Solution- Focus and Motivational Interviewing. In my in-person therapy sessions, in addition to talk therapy, I use art and creativity, because I believe during sessions the atmosphere doesn’t always have to be heavy and sad, it can also be filled with creative expressions. Together, we will work on helping you identify your stressors, develop effective coping skills, adapt, and feel empowered to handle all the challenges that life inevitably presents. I am offering service in two languages, English and Spanish. Thank you for reading and I look forward to hearing from you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, we'll focus on getting to know each other and setting the foundation for future work together. I’ll introduce myself, explain my approach, and we’ll discuss what brings you to therapy. We'll also explore your goals, background, and any challenges you're facing. This is a time for you to ask questions and make sure you feel comfortable with the process. By the end, we’ll outline the next steps and set up future sessions. I aim to create a relaxed, safe space where you can share openly and we can discuss how we will know you have met these goals. Be sure to complete your intake paperwork before our meeting so we can make the most of our time together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My ideal client is someone who is curious and committed to their healing journey. Many of my clients are people of color (POC) with a history of childhood or intergenerational trauma. I often work with LatinX, ChicanX, and First-Generation Individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, who seek me out because I can relate to and understand their cultural and familial experiences. Clients frequently tell me they appreciate my approachable demeanor and the relief of feeling understood without needing to constantly explain themselves. I also welcome incorporating faith and spirituality into our sessions for those who find it meaningful. One of my biggest strengths as a therapist is creating a warm and welcoming space where you can feel safe and comfortable. Building trust and genuine connection is my priority, so you always feel heard, understood, and respected. My empathetic approach allows you to open up at your own pace, giving us the space to explore your thoughts and emotions together, without any judgment.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

As a trauma-informed clinician, I specialize in helping individuals heal from various forms of trauma, including intergenerational, complex, and childhood trauma. Many people may not realize the profound impact trauma has on their lives, but by incorporating trauma-informed care into therapy, we can work together to bring about significant relief and healing. My approach is compassionate and tailored to each individual’s unique experiences, providing a safe space for growth and recovery, allowing them to move forward with greater resilience and well-being.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My approach to therapy is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a proven and effective method that focuses on how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. In our sessions, we’ll work together to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, helping you develop healthier ways to cope with life’s challenges. This approach allows you to gain a deeper understanding of how your thoughts influence your actions, and together we’ll build strategies to create positive change. My goal is to empower you to reshape negative thinking, overcome obstacles, and improve your overall well-being in a meaningful way.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

This approach is centered around your unique goals, needs, and experiences. I believe in respecting your autonomy and working together in a way that honors your journey. Using a non-directive style of therapy, I provide a supportive space for self-exploration, helping you gain deeper self-understanding and build self-esteem in a non-judgmental environment. I aim to create a warm, empathetic, and safe space where you feel heard and valued. I am committed to working collaboratively to develop the tools you need to lead a more fulfilling and empowered life.

Strength-Based

This approach focuses on your strengths, resilience, and personal growth. Instead of just looking at problems, we work together to tap into your unique abilities, skills, and past successes to overcome challenges and reach your goals. By recognizing and building on these strengths, I help you boost your self-confidence, find purpose, and improve your overall well-being, so you can lead a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Motivational Interviewing

In my practice, I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help you connect with your inner strength and past experiences of resilience. Together, we explore your personal “why” – the reasons that drive you – to align with your values and create a more fulfilling life. MI is a collaborative, non-judgmental approach that feels more like a conversation than traditional therapy. Rather than telling you what to do, I help you uncover your own motivations for change, empowering you to take meaningful steps toward a healthier, happier future. My goal is to support you in finding your own confidence and motivation to create lasting positive changes.
