Liz Buford
With over ten years of clinical social work and behavioral health experience, I am passionate about inciting change in others and guiding them toward their answers. I love working with both children and adults. I'm a wife, mom, and business owner, so I can relate to many challenging life experiences.
First session
If you come to your first session nervous, I hope that you feel much more comfortable within the first 10 minutes. I try to set a calm and relaxed atmosphere, taking however long we need in order for you to shake the jitters!
Strengths
Sessions with me usually feel like you are talking to a very good friend who will make you laugh AND hold you accountable in the same breath. I tend to explore clinical approaches until we find the approach(es) that work for your brain. In other words, we will use whatever works to get where we need to go!
Ideal clients
My ideal client may be coming to therapy knowing that they want something to change, but aren't quite sure what. They are ready and willing to explore their past issues, current situations, and future goals in order to become the best version of themselves. I love helping people through life transitions- starting college, getting married, having a baby, coming out, getting a new pet- anything that requires self-reflection in order to show up whole.
Treatment methods
Trauma-Informed Care
I work with the client to discover the clinical approaches that they best respond to. Cultural considerations are of high importance, and trauma history is considered before any one approach is selected.
