Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT focuses on how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we'll look at patterns that may be contributing to your stress, anxiety, or other challenges and work on finding more helpful ways to think about situations and respond to them. You'll learn tools you can use in everyday life to manage difficult emotions, work through challenges, and feel more in control of how you respond to things. We'll also help you with challenging negative thinking.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
We'll work on how to begin practicing mindfulness and improving emotion regulation skills, which in turn helps you to approach stressful situations without letting the situation completely overwhelm you. You'll learn ways to manage your emotions, communicate your needs, set boundaries, and find a balance between accepting yourself as you are and making changes that lead to self growth.
Psychodynamic
We'll look into how past experiences have shaped you in the present day. Have you ever responded very strongly to something and you can't quite figure out why you had such a reaction? Sometimes this can be a combination of childhood/adolescent experiences, relationships with partners as well as parents. This form of therapy helps to improve self awareness of behaviors, emotions, thoughts etc and can work to make self improvement come naturally when you have a better understanding of the connection between past and present.
Strength-Based
We'll learn to focus on those things within you that bring positive change, which is important if you believe you have already spent long enough dwelling on the negative. Strength based asks "What's strong about you?" instead of "What's wrong with you?" Let's find a way to improve self esteem and promote growth and resilience as we help you meet personal goals and treatment goals.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
This method is most helpful for those with OCD, phobias, or certain types of anxiety which are based on fear of the unknown/fear of what might happen if we do or don't do something. We'll work on facing those fears, and minimizing avoidance or compulsive behaviors which leads to better response to the things that cause the most stress. We do this together in small doses to help you learn that discomfort is not always dangerous, eventually you can practice on your own. Picture a new swimmer, dipping their toes in the water, except you have a swim coach beside you providing guidance as you go deeper into the water.
