Hello, welcome to Rocky Road Therapy, I’m Raquel McCranie, often called Rocky. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor with over 5 years of experience helping adults navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and self-compassion. My approach is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I believe therapy should feel like a genuine conversation where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to create meaningful change. I work with individuals and couples facing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, codependency, and self-esteem challenges.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, so my goal is to help you feel comfortable from the beginning. During our first session, we’ll discuss what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, relevant history, and what you hope to gain from the process. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and share as much or as little as feels comfortable. Together, we’ll begin identifying goals and creating a plan that feels realistic, personalized, and aligned with your needs.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Clients often describe me as approachable, compassionate, and genuine. I strive to create a space where people feel safe being themselves while also feeling supported and challenged when needed. My experience working with trauma, addiction recovery, relationships, and life transitions allows me to meet clients where they are while helping them recognize patterns, build insight, and move toward lasting change. I believe meaningful growth happens through a combination of understanding, accountability, and a strong therapeutic relationship.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, codependency, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, and stress. I enjoy helping individuals and couples gain insight into patterns that may be keeping them stuck while building healthier relationships, boundaries, and coping skills. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each person’s unique needs and goals. I view each person as a human being where we walk your journey together.

My treatment methods

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I incorporate principles of Emotionally Focused Therapy to help clients better understand their emotions, identify patterns in relationships, and build stronger, more secure connections with themselves and others. This approach supports deeper emotional awareness and healthier communication.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients develop psychological flexibility, navigate difficult thoughts and emotions, and take meaningful action aligned with their values. This approach focuses on creating a life that feels purposeful rather than struggling against internal experiences.

Attachment-based

I use an attachment-based approach to help clients understand how early relationships and life experiences influence current emotions, relationships, and patterns. Together, we work toward building greater security, trust, and healthier connections.

Adlerian

I incorporate Adlerian concepts to help clients explore beliefs, life experiences, and patterns that influence how they see themselves and interact with others. This approach emphasizes growth, purpose, and personal strengths.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients identify unhelpful thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that may be contributing to distress. Together, we develop practical strategies that support healthier coping and lasting change.
