My name is Marissa Gilbert, and I have been practicing therapy for over ten years. I’m excited to work with you and support you on your journey of personal growth and healing. My goal is to create a safe and welcoming space where you can freely express yourself without fear of judgment. I tailor my approach to therapy based on each client’s unique needs and where they are in their journey. My role is to listen, understand your concerns, and help you gain insights to navigate life’s challenges. Whether you're seeking support for depression, anxiety, family issues, or self-esteem, I am here to help you grow and empower you along the way. I strive to be down-to-earth and authentic so clients feel comfortable and connected during sessions. When a client leaves saying their session felt easy or enjoyable, I know we’re making progress in the right direction.
In our first session, I want you to come as you are. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, seen, and heard. We'll start with introductions and getting to know each other, and I want you to know that you will have my full attention. I'm here to support you as you navigate life’s challenges. We’ll discuss what brought you to therapy, the challenges you’re facing, and what you hope to gain from our time together. We’ll also determine a schedule that works best for you—whether that’s weekly, biweekly, or monthly. I understand that life ebbs and flows, and my role is to be a consistent support, no matter how often you need. I also recognize that not every client-therapist relationship is the right fit, and I believe in being upfront and honest about that. If I feel that another therapist might better suit your needs, I will happily refer you to someone who can provide the support you deserve. My priority is ensuring you get the most out of therapy, whether that’s with me or another provider. If I can help you find the right person, then I am still contributing to your healing—just in a different but meaningful way.
I believe a strength that I posses as a provider is to be transparent and authentic. I understand that you are here for guidance and though I may not have all the answers you are looking for my goal is to be real with you and where you are in this stage of your life. I want to be able to build trust, empower, model healthy communication and facilitate insight and growth with my clients. As a therapist I try to be open minded to what my clients feel and put myself in their shoes to help walk through the struggles they are facing so they do not feel alone. I want clients to understand that they can over come the obstacles they are facing and learn from the challenges.
I want to support individuals who are finding it difficult to take their next steps. Everyone's journey looks different, and sometimes having someone to guide and support you can make all the difference. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you can navigate challenges such as anxiety, stress, depression, relationship issues, life transitions, self-esteem, or grief. I encourage clients to fully experience and express their emotions without judgment, allowing them to process and heal at their own pace.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is a therapeutic approach that explores the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In my practice, I use CBT to help clients understand how these elements influence one another and how making changes in one area can positively impact the others. A key part of this approach involves identifying cognitive distortions and using cognitive restructuring techniques to reframe irrational or unhelpful beliefs into more balanced and realistic perspectives.
Strength- Based Therapy is a therapeutic approach that focuses on promoting growth, resilience and wellbeing. Assessing client strengths and help them to identify times where strength was utilized to get through situations in their lives. Helping clients change their mindset and reframing challenges as opportunities for growth and learning. Instilling a positive outlook in situations so that clients can overcome what they are facing.
Humanistic Therapy created a client centered approach and emphasizes self exploration, personal growth and self actualization. I want to create a non judgmental space for the client that allows for empathy, genuineness and holistic perspective. This allows the client to foster mindfulness and presence in therapy by encourage clients to be fully present in the moment.
I want to be sure that you are receiving the support that you need to handle things as they come in your life. Supportive therapy allows for you to be seen, heard and understood. I offer encouragement and remind clients they are more than capable to handle situations as they come. I work with you to provide problem solving strategies for real life issues.
