LPC, 12 years of experience
Hello, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) and I am based in Houston, Texas. I obtained a psychology degree from Grambling State University and received my counseling degree from Prairie View A&M University. I have been practicing for 12 years helping individuals and families heal and develop healthy coping tools to deal with burnout from overwhelming emotions and life stressors.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then discuss specific challenges you're facing currently. We will work together and create a treatment plan that will include your goals for therapy and coping strategies to help reduce stress and improve your overall mood.
I have over a decade of work experience that has afforded me empathy, compassion, and a toolbox of skills to use to help anyone struggling with any stressors that cause stagnation or emotional overload in major life domains.
I have provided support in the mental health field as a licensed therapist since 2012 with individuals who present with depression, anxiety, post partum issues, substance abuse, complex trauma, PTSD, mood disorders, personality disorders, etc.
CBT is used during talk therapy to help clients identify automatic thoughts that lead to emotions that affect outcomes. Client's are guided and encouraged to develop goals, identify negative thinking patterns, and reframe negative thoughts. I also use grief therapy, psychoeducation, and trauma informed care to assist clients in their healing process during the session.
