Do you struggle with self-esteem, controlling your thoughts, organizing your life, managing your emotions and/or interpersonal relationships? Would you like to resolve some issues from your past and learn how to begin to enjoy the present as you also shape your future with intention and excitement? I will be here to guide you on your therapeutic journey and explore the 'menu' of approaches to choose from when we meet. It will be a safe place to talk, laugh and cry. Consider it a "choose your own adventure" approach with also a bit of structure. My therapeutic focus is finding a balance with one’s mind, body and spirit to alleviate symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, burnout, trauma, physical manifestations and changes in moods which often stem from repressed thoughts and unprocessed emotions. Letting your words "hit the air" is profoundly powerful and the first step to change.... actually, second after deciding to work on yourself. :) My healing modalities are deeply rooted person-centered, talk-therapy approach incorporating traditional therapeutic methods and holistic practices such as breath-work and mindfulness. Reaching out can be intimidating, especially when scrolling through a list of strangers and trying to choose who you think might be a good fit to be open and vulnerable with. It is a big decision. Let's start with a 15 min consultation, if you'd prefer. You decide if we're a match. No pressure to commit. Consider it like trying on a great pair of shoes for your journey. :)
We will first lay a foundation of who you are, your history, what you value and most importantly, your goals. Show up as you are, and we will go from there. We will get to know each and figure out what will work best for you based on your journey in the past and what you aim to achieve in your future.
I am very open-minded and never judgmental. With years of experience, I can pull from a vast library of approaches and adapt quickly knowledge and a bit of humor here and there. My history prior to becoming a therapist includes working in politics, hospitality and physical labor building and remodeling homes. Upon reflection, I realized these all impact our mental health, especially the world at large, our jobs, our surroundings, and our homes. With all those experiences considered, I decided to return school to pursue a master's in clinical mental health counseling with a holistic specialization. While studying and post graduation (also while living with and caring for my grandmother who had dementia- rest in peace my adventurous firecracker), I helped people who sustained traumatic brain injuries adjust to activities of daily living post injury, worked in community mental health, developed and led group therapy for seniors, became an on-campus therapist at a therapeutic boarding school, provided remote support for teenagers and adults during the pandemic, and took a position which I traveled throughout the US to support members of the LGBTQIA+ community in their unique journeys. Throughout those years, I developed a private practice, so I now have the option to work with insurance companies or private pay in order to encompass the variety of clients' needs. I have loved every step of the meandering journey and look forward to continued transformation and growth! And each and every client helps me evolve as a human and therapist, so thank you in advance! :) It is beautiful to work with people who love to work on themselves and improve their quality of life. How we cope with our inner and outer world impacts the world at large. Rather than the top-down mentality, change comes from within and works its way around and up. :)
I love working with clients who want to show up and put the work in with an open mind to a wide array of approaches including mindfulness, breathwork, talk- therapy and psycho education in addition to traditional modalities. Basically, when you learn how your brain works, you can use it to your advantage. You hold the key to your inner joy. It is important to be ready to make the necessary changes to take your power back from trauma, your inner critic and core beliefs that are no longer serving you. Embrace that it is time to free from the trauma/drama triangle and become the creator in your life.
With an integrative approach, I incorporate traditional practices such as CBT and psycho-education, as well as holistic modalities such as breath work, tapping, mindfulness and much more as we discover what is best for you on your therapeutic journey. Consider sessions having focus and structure yet also freedom to discover new things.
