Hello! I'm Monique, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Georgia and Florida. I graduated with my Master of Social Work degree from Florida State University. I have been practicing in the mental health field for almost 12 years. I was influenced by my personal and family experiences to start the journey as a counselor and have worked diligently to dispel the negative perceptions of therapy within culturally diverse communities. As a working mother, I know what it feels like to be burned out, but have to keep going. I have developed some tried and true techniques to help work through these symptoms. A major focus on my work has been managing anxiety, grief and depression and helping clients to develop healthy, positive coping skills, reduce stress and prevent burnout. I also have extensive experience working with individuals with personality disorder diagnoses. I use my experiences from the various settings that I have worked in to assist my clients in achieving the best outcome possible.
In our first session together, we will complete brief introductions, complete a brief biopsychosocial and then dive into what challenges you may be facing. That way, we can work to develop a plan and schedule that best suits your needs.
Having worked in the mental field for almost 12 years, I have been able to learn and develop many helpful and effective methods to assist my clients in identifying underlying issues that contribute to their current challenges and helping them to develop positive coping skills to limit or eliminate these challenges.
I love working with individuals who are just trying to make the best of each day. Clients who are striving to do and be better, but just need an extra push, support or the tools to get to the level of functioning that feels more manageable to them.
I have been using CBT with my clients for about 11 years. I use this method to assist my clients in learning to identify thoughts, feelings and behaviors that may be contributing to their current circumstances. This method also helps to dissect negative/dysfunctional thoughts and reframe them.
In my experience, mindfulness is one of the most powerful treatment methods that one can use. It assists clients in cultivating awareness of thoughts and feelings and remaining focused on the present.
I use supportive therapy to help the client better understand their diagnosis and treatment options. This also helps them to learn about any limitations and their potential. This helps to establish realistic goals, and address issues to reduce stress and anxiety.
