Hello, my name is Lindsay. I am a licensed clinical social worker, with 10 years of counseling experience. I have a license to provide therapy to individuals living in South Carolina and Michigan. My experience has included providing direct counseling support to individuals and families struggling with mental health needs. Throughout my experience I have worked with clients from a wide range of ages, backgrounds, cultures, faiths, and identities. I am LGBTQ+ affirming. There is no doubt in my mind this is what I was meant to do with my life and career, and I have a deep passion for working with people to help them navigate the challenges life puts in our paths.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session we will meet for an initial assessment. This will include me asking questions about your background, symptoms, and current life circumstances. I also like to check in on how you are doing with different areas of functioning like sleep, work or school, social relationships, physical health, and any substance use. This will assist me to get a better idea of what your presenting needs are, so that we can assure working together will be a good fit.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My counseling style combines being caring, compassionate, and direct. I want to create an environment where you feel safe and validated. I also want to try to be that voice of reason to help you process through a difficult situation.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have significant experience in guiding clients through CBT based therapy techniques. I use this approach to help you identify how your thoughts influence your emotions, and ultimately you behaviors and reactions

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

One of my true passions in working with clients is incorporating mindfulness. Working with guiding you on how to experience the present moment can help instill a greater sense on control in your life.

Prolonged Exposure Therapy

I am trained in a brief offering of prolonged exposure therapy. This approach works really well for individuals who are experience mild to moderate trauma symptoms. Prolonged exposure therapy aims to allow one to explore their trauma history, process the emotional impact of their trauma, and confront avoidance tendencies . This allows an individual to take charge of their life and managing their thoughts, emotions, and memories that have been so distressing. Please feel free to reach out and book an appointment if you would like to find out more.

Trauma Informed Care

Creating a therapy environment where one feels safe is my top priority. From here we can work on building trust and collaboration to approach distressing and traumatic experiences. My primary goal in using a trauma informed approach is to empower you-by creating a space where our work is collaborative, and ensuring you have the choice and control to make decisions and re-affirm your self determination.
