Susanna Adamovic
Hi, my name is Susanna. I specialize in helping individuals, couples and families navigate life heaviest challenges. Weather you are a young adult trying to find your footing, a parent worried about your teenager, a couple struggling to communicate, or someone fighting through the fog of depression, anxiety or substance use, you do not have to carry this alone. My therapeutic style is deeply client centered and gentle. I believe in creating a warm, non-judgmental space where you fee safe enough to lay down your burdens. However I truly believe that true growth require honesty. When necessary, I will be gently direct, holding up a mirror to help you see patterns that might be keeping you stuck. In our sessions, we will combine this compassionate support with practical, evidence based tools like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Together, we will look how your thoughts influence behaviors and relationships, and build real-world coping strategies you can use starting on day one. Healing is a collaborative journey, and you are the expert on your own life. Let's work together to restore connection, reclaim your peace of mind and build a clearer path forward.
First session
In our first session we will focus on building a comfortable, collaborative connection where your unique story and your cultural background is fully respected. We will explore what brought you , your partner or your family to to therapy, clarify your immediate concerns, and outline a clear, personalized roadmap for our work together. My goal is for you to walk away feeling deeply heard, validated, and relieved that you no longer need to carry these challenges alone. You will leave our first session physically and emotionally lighter.
Strengths
Growing up in a family impacted by domestic violence taught me how important emotional safety is. First I create space where you would feel safe and secure at all times. Also having an experience in navigating a family where multiple members managed bipolar depression gave me a raw, firsthand understanding of chronic mental health challenges and resilience it takes to survive them. As a Serbian American, my cultural background bridges two worlds. I deeply understand the nuances of both mainstream American culture and the unique pressures of immigrant families or minority backgrounds. Because of this background I do not sit passively, nor do I aggressively push. I hold space initially to build safety then I will gently challenge and push back against the automatic patterns, cultural conditioning, or survival mechanisms that no longer serve you. You will get a therapist who can sit with your deepest pain, celebrate your identity and guide you towards breaking your own cycles.
Ideal clients
I welcome individuals, married couples and families from all walks of life, with focus on supporting mainstream and culturally diverse navigating complexities of modern life. They are motivated and deeply care about their loved ones, but often feel misunderstood, disconnected or stuck in repetitive arguments. They are ready to move passed cultural stigmas around mental health and actively seek a safe, non-judgmental space to heal.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT as a collaborative, practical tool to help you uncover the hidden connection between your thoughts, feelings and actions. Together we'll identify your automatic, negative thought patterns like perfectionism, overthinking or cultural pressures that leave you feeling stuck or overwhelmed.
