You may be the person everyone leans on while quietly wondering when you’ll have space to care for yourself. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or simply unlike yourself, you deserve support that makes room for your needs, too. I’m Denitra Bost, a dual board-certified Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I support adults navigating anxiety, depression, mood concerns, grief, and life transitions. I have a special interest in women’s mental health, and supporting parents of neurodivergent children.

Care may include medication management, supportive therapy, and everyday strategies to help you feel more grounded.

My background in family medicine and mental health helps me consider the whole person—your physical health, emotions, daily habits, relationships, and the experiences that shape your life. Together, we’ll explore your concerns and develop a practical plan that fits your needs. Care may include medication management, supportive therapy, and everyday strategies to help you feel more grounded. My approach is warm, collaborative, culturally responsive, and LGBTQ+ affirming. I want you to feel heard, respected, and comfortable asking questions. You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out. We can start where you are.

First session

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and understand what brings you to care. We’ll talk about your current concerns, medical and mental health history, daily life, and what you hope will change. You’ll have space to share your story at your own pace and ask questions. Together, we’ll discuss treatment options, including whether medication may be helpful, and begin creating a plan that fits your needs and preferences. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, with a clearer understanding of your concerns and the next steps in your care. You don’t need to prepare a perfect explanation—come as you are.

Strengths

I bring warmth, curiosity, and a whole-person perspective to each session. My background in family medicine and mental health helps me consider how your physical health, emotions, daily routines, and life experiences may be connected. I listen closely and ask thoughtful questions so we can understand what matters most to you. I make room for your culture, identity, and values, and I welcome honest feedback about what is or isn’t helping. I also bring a practical approach. Together, we’ll identify your strengths, explore treatment options, and develop manageable steps that fit your life. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, informed, and more confident about your next steps.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is an adult woman who may look like she’s holding everything together but feels overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally drained, or disconnected from herself. She may be navigating depression, grief, hormonal changes, or the demands of caring for others. I especially welcome mothers and parents of neurodivergent children who need space to focus on their own well-being. You don’t need to know exactly what you need before we meet. You may be exploring medication, looking for practical coping tools, or simply ready to better understand what you’re experiencing. We’ll work together to create a plan that respects your values, builds on your strengths, and fits your life.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to help you explore how your thoughts, feelings, and actions influence one another. Together, we may notice patterns such as harsh self-talk, expecting the worst, or feeling responsible for everyone else’s needs. We’ll practice questioning unhelpful thoughts, developing more balanced perspectives, and taking small steps toward healthier habits and boundaries. I may suggest simple exercises between visits so you can apply these skills in everyday life. I incorporate these techniques alongside medication management and supportive care, based on your needs and goals.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I use emotion-focused techniques to help you recognize, understand, and express feelings that may be difficult to put into words. Together, we may explore the hurt beneath anger, the fear behind pulling away, or the unmet needs connected to putting others first. At a pace that feels manageable, we’ll practice responding to your emotions with curiosity and compassion. This work can help you communicate your needs, strengthen boundaries, and feel more connected to yourself and others. I incorporate these techniques into supportive care based on your needs and goals.

Interpersonal

I use interpersonal therapy techniques to explore how your relationships and life changes affect your emotional well-being. We may focus on grief, conflict, changes in family or caregiving roles, or feeling disconnected from others. Together, we’ll explore ways to communicate your needs, navigate disagreements, and build meaningful support. I incorporate these techniques into supportive care to help you manage current challenges and strengthen the relationships that matter to you.

Trauma-Informed Care

I use a trauma-informed approach by recognizing that difficult experiences can shape how you feel, respond to stress, and connect with others. I prioritize emotional safety, trust, and your ability to make choices about your care. You won’t be pressured to share details before you’re ready. We’ll work at a pace that feels manageable, explore what helps you feel grounded, and build on your strengths. I’ll explain treatment options, welcome your questions, and include you in decisions throughout our work together.
