(she/her)
I work with adults seeking support for trauma, anxiety, grief, stress, life transitions, and relationship challenges. I specialize in trauma therapy and am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based treatment commonly used for PTSD, anxiety, panic symptoms, disturbing memories, and grief. My approach to therapy is collaborative, practical, and goal-oriented. I provide support, guidance, and accountability while helping clients identify patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and work toward meaningful change. Therapy is most effective when clients are prepared to actively engage in the process and attend sessions consistently. I use EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, and Reality Therapy depending on each client’s individual needs and goals. After experiencing the sudden loss of my husband in 2016, I chose to pursue counseling as a second career. That experience shaped my passion for trauma work and deepened my appreciation for the impact compassionate support can have during difficult life events.
During our first session, we’ll begin by discussing the concerns, symptoms, or life experiences that brought you to therapy. I’ll ask questions to better understand your history, current challenges, strengths, and goals so we can begin developing a treatment approach tailored to your needs. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable sharing openly while also helping you identify practical steps toward meaningful change. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we’ll work together to determine the best path forward.
I provide a calm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment while also encouraging accountability and active participation in the therapy process. I believe meaningful progress happens when clients are willing to engage honestly, attend consistently, and practice the skills we discuss outside of sessions. My trauma-focused training and EMDR certification have strengthened my ability to help clients recognize how past experiences continue to affect present thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behaviors. I work collaboratively with clients to identify barriers to change, process difficult experiences, and develop healthier ways of coping and moving forward.
My ideal client is an adult who is ready to actively engage in the therapy process and committed to making meaningful changes in their life. They may be struggling with trauma, anxiety, grief, stress, or unhealthy patterns and are seeking support, guidance, and practical tools for healing. They understand that therapy is a collaborative process requiring honesty, consistency, and personal effort.

I have had several other therapists all who were good in their own right but I feel most understood and trusting of my feelings with Danell! Her persona, insight and attention during our sessions are greatly valued by me!

Danell Black is an engaging soul, easy to talk with and listens attentively - there is nothing forced as she conveys confidence while expressing a desire to keep currrent with new devolpments in her field. I was very comfortable in our initial meeting and look forward to her help in working through a couple of long standing issues.
