If you're used to taking care of others, managing responsibilities, or pushing through difficult times, you may find yourself feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally drained. You might be doing your best to keep everything together while feeling stuck or unsure of how to move forward. If this sounds familiar, you're not alone. I'm Loren Cook, and I work with adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, relationship concerns, and major life changes. I understand that life can feel heavy at times, especially when you're trying to balance your own needs with everything expected of you.

If you're used to taking care of others, managing responsibilities, or pushing through difficult times, you may find yourself feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally drained.

My approach to therapy is warm, honest, and practical. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel comfortable being yourself, talking openly about your struggles, and exploring what you want to change. I'll listen without judgment while also offering feedback, asking questions, and helping you look at things from new perspectives. Together, we'll work toward helping you better understand yourself, handle life's challenges, and make changes that feel meaningful to you.

First session

Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and talk about what brought you to therapy. I'll ask about what's been going on in your life, what has been difficult, and what you hope will improve. You don't need to know exactly what to say or have everything figured out before we meet. We'll start with what's most important to you and take things one step at a time. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, heard, and supported as we begin to identify what you'd like to work on together.

Strengths

I bring warmth, honesty, and a practical approach to therapy. I listen closely, ask questions, provide feedback, and help you consider situations from different perspectives. I want you to feel comfortable being yourself while also knowing that we're actively working toward the changes you want to make. I also recognize that change doesn't happen the same way or at the same pace for everyone. I'll meet you where you are without judgment and tailor our work to what you need.

Ideal clients

I work best with adults who feel overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in patterns they want to change. You may be dealing with stress, depression, burnout, relationship concerns, or a major life change while still trying to manage everyday responsibilities. You may want to understand yourself better, feel more confident in your decisions, improve your relationships, or simply feel more like yourself again.

Origin story

Much of my professional experience has been working with adults in drug and alcohol treatment settings. That work gave me the opportunity to support people from many different backgrounds navigating substance use, mental health concerns, relationships, and significant life challenges. Those experiences shaped how I practice today. I saw how important it is for people to have a space where they can be honest about what they're experiencing without feeling judged. I became especially interested in helping people better understand themselves and make changes that improve their lives. I eventually transitioned into private practice, where I continue working with adults through a wide range of life's challenges.

Ongoing work together

Our work will be collaborative and focused on the concerns that matter most to you. I'll listen, ask questions, offer feedback, and help you look at situations from different perspectives. Depending on your needs, we may work on managing difficult emotions, changing unhelpful thought patterns, improving communication, setting healthier boundaries, or finding more effective ways to handle stress. Progress won't look exactly the same for everyone. Over time, you may notice that you understand yourself better, respond differently to situations that once felt overwhelming, trust your decisions more, or feel better equipped to handle challenges outside of therapy.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you better understand how your thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected. Sometimes, the way we think about ourselves or certain situations can leave us feeling anxious, discouraged, or stuck. Together, we'll look at thought patterns that may be making things harder and explore healthier ways to respond to life's challenges. My approach is practical and supportive, with a focus on helping you build skills you can use outside of our sessions. The goal is to help you feel more confident handling difficult emotions, managing stress, and making positive changes in your everyday life.
