Yiranda Diaz
Hello, I’m Yiranda Diaz, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Prior to becoming a PMHNP, I spent several years working as a psychiatric registered nurse, caring for individuals with a wide range of mental health conditions across different levels of care. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, mood disorders, and life transitions. My goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that helps clients gain symptom relief, develop effective coping skills, and improve their overall quality of life. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout their treatment journey.
First session
During our first session, we will take time to discuss your concerns, symptoms, personal history, current stressors, and treatment goals. I will ask questions to better understand your experiences and how they are affecting your daily life. Together, we will develop an individualized treatment plan that may include medication management, therapeutic interventions, lifestyle recommendations, or a combination of approaches. My goal is to ensure you feel comfortable, supported, and actively involved in your care from the very beginning.
Strengths
My approach combines clinical expertise with genuine compassion and collaboration. I strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable discussing difficult thoughts, emotions, and life challenges without fear of judgment. I believe in treating the whole person, not just the diagnosis, and I work closely with clients to develop realistic, personalized treatment plans. As a bilingual provider fluent in English and Spanish, I am able to serve a diverse population and help clients navigate their mental health journey with understanding, respect, and evidence-based care.
Ideal clients
I work best with adults who are seeking support for anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, life transitions, and other mood-related concerns. Many of my clients are balancing the demands of work, relationships, parenting, caregiving responsibilities, or major life changes and are looking for practical strategies to improve their mental health and overall quality of life. I enjoy working with individuals who are motivated to better understand themselves, develop healthier coping skills, and actively participate in their treatment. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and individualized, combining evidence-based treatment with compassionate care. Whether you are seeking medication management, therapy-informed support, or both, I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to reach your goals.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and improve emotional well-being. In my practice, I incorporate CBT principles during medication management visits and supportive therapy sessions to address concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, adjustment difficulties, and self-esteem issues. My approach is collaborative, practical, and focused on helping clients build skills they can apply in their daily lives.
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore and resolve ambivalence about change. Through a collaborative, nonjudgmental approach, I support clients in identifying their personal goals, strengthening motivation, and building confidence in their ability to make meaningful changes. MI can be particularly helpful for individuals working through lifestyle changes, treatment adherence, anxiety, depression, and substance use concerns.
Supportive
I provide supportive therapy to help clients navigate life's challenges, build resilience, and improve emotional well-being. My approach emphasizes active listening, validation, problem-solving, and the development of healthy coping skills. Supportive therapy can help individuals manage stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions while fostering personal growth and self-understanding.
